Title: Empty Deck?
Post by: My 2 sids on February 20, 2008, 10:36:55 PM
Sense when do card decks render "empty"??
Does this mean we have to collect instead of junking cards??

If you junk the cards, then you have to 'shuffle deck reset' to bring the cards back. Then you shouldn't get the empty thing, I think.

Yeah, decks of cards got updated a while back thanks to one of our great coders :) (not sure which).

If you come across a deck of cards that's empty, you probably shouldn't reset the deck. The reset function is there for us old timers who are use to junking our cards when we play with them.

Wait, so 'junking' the card doesn't 'magically' send them to the decks anymore and we actually -throw- them away!?

That's right! You also can't get duplicate cards.

"shuffle reset."

So, Say I'm the dealer and I deal to three others.

Do I have to get them to just put their cards down on the table, right?

Then I just, uh, what?

Sorry, but I'd like to know the syntax for this.

If I type 'Shuffle reset', Will it take their cards out of their inventory?

No. If you're playing without a full deck - i.e., the cards have been junked - then "shuffle reset" will reset the deck so that it is, once more, full. It is possible to dupe cards this way, which is expressly forbidden in the helpfile.

Alternatively, you can use "shuffle" and any cards in your hand will go back into said deck.

Quote
Shuffle                                                            (Objects)

This command will return Kruth cards into a Kruth deck.  All of the
Kruth cards in your inventory will be shuffled back into the deck.

The "reset" option is provided for playability, since many players are
used to using the "junk" command to reveal cards.  When "reset" is
specified, all the cards in your inventory will be shuffled back into the
deck as normal, and any cards which are missing from the deck will be
restored.

Syntax:
   shuffle deck [reset]

Examples:
   > shuffle deck

   > shuffle deck reset

Notes:
Using "examine" on the deck will show how many cards are in the deck.

There are 24 cards in a complete Kruth deck.

Do not abuse the "reset" option to purposefully clone card objects.

See Also:
   deal, examine, kruth, roll
