Alright, what sort of drinks, snacks, music gets you in the mood for a HRPT?
Just logging in gets me in the mood.
Bon Jovi and corndogs.
Sountracks of 300
Lots and lots of tea + coke
Mufffiiinnnn. :D
Class work procrastination. :D
A nice hot, steaming bowl of baby skin soup usually does the trick.
Amon Amarth, a pack of Camel Wide Lights, and a catheter.
Set Blue Man Group's "Audio" album on loop (somehow it always is the perfect mood music for everything), grab a Kahlua robusto cigar, a handful of honey-roasted half cashews, and two 2-liters of whatever soda's at hand.
Loituma (http://dojo.fi/~rancid/loituma__.swf)
I'll just be running 13 Warrior in the background.
'Lo, there do I see my father.
'Lo, there do I see my mother, and my sisters, and my brothers.
'Lo, there do I see the line of my people back to the beginning.
'Lo, they do call to me.
They bid me take my place among them.
In the halls of Valhalla,
Where the brave may live forever
Go to a place that sells Halloween stuff, and buy some fake blood. Then splash the fake blood all over the walls of your computer room. That should get you in the appropriate mood.

Perfect!
Cocaine.
Quote from: "bardbard#4"Cocaine.
Seriously, a lot of cocaine.
I'm with Barzalene, I need only log in to be in the mood.
Although...I think I'm going to have a venti triple-shot mocha with extra chocolate from Starbuck's later. THAT will get me really going.
A hangover.
a pack of Camel 9's and a case of diet 7-up or dew. And hopefully a nap before.
I'll have to run my hands under some hot water because it's freezing. Then logging in will be enough for me.
Blazin' on a joint with a mug of hot chocolate.
Blazin' on two joints with a jug of hot chocolate.
Blazin' on three joints with a pack of American Spirits and four fingers of bourbon.

Cocaine gets in the way of my Crackageddon addiction.

You know, my hands are cold too. Which is rare for me.
Good luck guys. See you on the other side.
My hands were cold for the last four hours (even though the heat's on twenty Celsius..). They're warmed up again.
Last one dead is a rotten egg.
We don't die in Zalanthas, we reincarnate.
TONIGHT!
WE DINE IN DROV!
This... is... ALLANAAAAAAAK!
Freaking amazing.
There are 112 players currently in the world, other than yourself.
QuoteGood luck guys. See you on the other side.
Anyone who says bash is useless needed to die the way I did.
All I could hear for four minutes was the Glorius Beep of Death.
wot happend/
I need updates!!!! Ahhhh! This is frustrating. But I'm loving every minute of it.
The most I saw was 115, maybe 118 (or maybe I'm confusing that with 108?).
But I'm in the North, so we won't get the news for weeeeeeeeeeeeks (at least, that's usually the case).
This is going along really well. A lot of fun :D. Cheers to those whom have fallen!
This is exceedingly frustrating to me, because I'm soooo close to the action but my character can't get involved unless it comes to him. :(
That's it...my next char is going to be a fighter. I want to be in the middle of an HRPT again...I miss all the fun otherwise!
It is rough to not be on the front lines.
Only sucky thing is the window moving faster than a car. And all the -beeps-.

So, uh... what are the chances we'll see any of this, by your best estimate?
good fight, i had to quit out to put my daughter to bed and well im dead. Cheers and good luck
Aaaaand game over. Whew, fuckin' crazy time, people, fuckin' crazy indeed.
OMFG. That is all I have to say.
That. Was. Awesome.
Not bad.
Totally awesome, but the ending was...odd, no real closure, still unsure on what happened exactly.
Holy shit. That was beyond ridiculous. Fucking cool. Good times. Goodnight!
You'll understand it all when the rumors go up. I came in in the middle, and I'm saying ... damn.
Saw shit you'll maybe never see again.

Aww man, I musta missed the good part.
Yes. You did.
Saw shit I never WANT to see again.
My PC has an all time high body count for any RPT I've been in...WOOT!
I saw jack shit. ;_;
Oh, well. Still a fun time.
I was some awesome stuff, kudos to the staff for some great visual descriptions.
Too bad things were going by so damn fast it was hard to tell what was totally going on.
That was so freaking awesome. I had a majorly good time. Kudos to -everyone- involved.
My hands are still shaking a bit.
...
Just awesomeness. Pure awesomeness.
Quote from: "Armaddict"Anyone who says bash is useless needed to die the way I did.
Yeah, those gith were nasty bashers.
Personally, I thought there was a good balance between the players' resources and then deadly nature of the gith. People died if no one was organized, not because the gith ran in and gibbed one person. I enjoyed it tremendously.
Kudos to all involved. Everyone made it great, even the whiny people. You added flavor.
Yes, good job with focusing units on units. Thanks, staff.
i noticed how things were split between magickal gith battling magickal nakkis and mundane gith battling mundane nakkis.
a little unrealistic, but since it ups the playability, i support it.

There was a bit of mixing towards the middle in there. ;)
This was actually more by design of the players, rather than just specific staff peculiarities.
That was pretty freakin' sweet.
Now I have to make more hot chocolate.
It was just well-managed in general, considering the sheer number of PCs involved. Very, very fun. And my PC's adventures were exceedingly well-paced. A satisfying night of Crackageddon.
Hey everyone.
SEND STAFF KUDOS.
I think the RPT itself was fantastic. Well played, nicely set up, the delight of discovering that magick and mundane would actually be set apart somewhat. The battles were dangerous and frightening enough without being distressing. Staggering PC attendance, and an effort made to give any PC a chance to have a purpose, even if they were non-combat. I didn't like the final result but that's a matter of personal tastes and opinions. As an RPT I think it was thoroughly well done.
ONLY complaint I have is. Kind of jarring to walk through what was a once-raided area(not saying where, though it should be obvious) and having bodies everywhere from both sides and everyone walking around like its normal and NPCs that were killed respawned and back to buisiness. Sorry, just to me it kind of destroys the awesome destructive mood set by the RPT :\.
HUGE kudos to staff though, it was best fun I have had in Arm for a long time.

Re: Magick and mundane, the PCs involved in planning tried to separate all that out somewhat, because some folks like bacon and cheese and fireballs on their baked potato and some don't. I think it worked out well, and I hope nobody felt marginalised or anything because of it?
The staff were awesome, you really did a great job. This was the most exciting and most dynamic event I've ever been a part of.

I was very happy with the overall split of magick and mundane and the balance of the fighting. PC leadership was great.
The staff was totally, completely awesome. This was a great HRPT.

"drop 'em."
I'm actually curious how many PC's were killed during all of that slaughter.
And yeah that was all insane, I think one room had at least 82 npc's corpses in it >_>
Awesome job by everyone, seriously.
I THOUGHT IT SUCKED WAAAAAAAAAAAAH WAAAAAAAAAAAAAH no it was okay. Yar.
I wasn't there, and I don't have anything to say about this HRPT in particular, but I wish there were -more- player involvement in HRPTs: Players on both 'sides' of the conflict, multiple possibilities for plot direction and outcome, player actions having direct influence on these plot turns, etcetera.
There's something I don't like about having a list of HRPTs that looks like:
NPC Gith attack Allanak
NPC Giants eat RSE
PCs (and NPCs) engage in Copper War
NPC Mantis attack Luir's
NPC Elementals eat Tuluk
I want more staff-encouraged PvP conflict, damnit! I want contingencies!
I want PC-playable antagonist races! I want more antagonists in general!
Rawr! One in Five isn't enough! Gimme more! More! MORE!
I think I will stop my ranting now... I could continue, but no...
My medication is kicking in, and if I get to bed soon I will probably be able to sleep.
I wonder if you guys know that through reading this thread I, someone who wasn't there, can learn a great deal about the RPT... that's probably IC...
I mean, it's great to know considering the North won't hear of it for months, but...
hmm.
I think the level of IC info in this thread is fine ... granted, it would be great if there were no clues at all, but there's a line where you have to begin blurring. I mean, only the people who were there really know what happened.
We have to be able to speak about things in some manner, I think. And I don't think anything here validates real concern about the spread of IC info.
KUDOS! Great great time staff thank you

Yeah, I mean from a player enjoyment stand-point the HRPT has to have some kind of outlet.
I had no idea there was an HRPT. FTL. When Ourla told me there was a big RPT I didn't realize she meant a freakin' HRPT! :P
Oh well... I was in Tuluk anyway, so apaprently I would have missed the fun regardless.
For the record, it was billed as a Southlands RPT.

I thought it worked great. Occasionally the magick and non-magick groups would cross paths, and even that was fun.
Like when a Templar told some gemmed to cut the shop talk. :D
Or a mundane guy said something like, "If I change my mind about being wet and glowing I'll let you know."
Ding! Ding! Ding! Ding!
Do not ask for whom the bell tolls . . .
Sick sick sick. Thanks staff! Rocking HRPT.

SHUT UP, you're all making me want to play again.
I missed 95% of this. But, from wandering around in the aftermath, the room-building work that went into it was gorgeous. Obviously a lot of time spent getting this ready.
Quote from: "Malken"SHUT UP, you're all making me want to play again.

Where's your WoW now.
Actually... this past weekend was the first time I played in FOREVAR. And I'm really wanting to play LOTR online because I saw James playing it and it looks alright. But I digress.
Long live HRPTS and such.
I can't believe that one thing that happened O.O

The first HRPT I played in years and years ago there was a significant PVP conflict in the bowels of the Labyrinth. It -was- really fun.
But there was PC conflict and finagling and I'm sure behind the scenes things involving PC's on conflicting sides.
And to answer Benutzcola, I think the PC death count wasn't really all that high, it seemed like most people survived.
Quote from: "Bebop"
PWNed :P
I haven't played either in WEEKS, so I'm not PWNed just yet :P
And I have LOTR, but it gets old really quick.
*goes back to shiver, naked, on the cold marble floor*
Enemy casualties- 532
Friendly Deaths- 8
Innocent Bystander deaths that just wanted to be part of it- Priceless.
I don't have the official player bodycount but I am relatively certain it was above fifteen, perhaps twenty.
I also know that staff (myself included) were very busy not only running the HRPT, but checking the application queue in order to allow people to cycle back in through another position if they wanted.
I believe one player actually went through three PCs.
Glad to hear you enjoyed it, it was quite an effort on all parts, and provided much amusement with the staff as well.
You all did an excellent job!
Is there any doubt as to why Armageddon is the best RPI in existence?
No, no, I think not.

Oh, I didn't think of that. That would have been a great idea. I cant churn out character concepts that fast though...I ponder over it too long.
Quote from: "Shalooonsh"I don't have the official player bodycount but I am relatively certain it was above fifteen, perhaps twenty.
Yeah, I know of at least 14 PCs that died, myself.

Totally agree.
About Tuluk: What happened in the south was so big, I think it's very likely y'all will be getting the highlights soon. Ask your friendly neighborhood Lirathan or Jihaen for details, if you dare.

To fully appreciate this feat, please note that the player in question had characters die not thrice, but six times.
Very impressive. Kudos to all of the players and the members of the staff that made this possible. I've never truly been fully apart of an HRPT or RPT and this was an awesome one to experience fully. Just makes me sad that I missed so many before. I had a wonderful time, and thank you again for making all of this possible.
- Matt.
Whoever did the small bit with the gith and the Tuluki - you know who you are.
That was cool. Kudos.
HRPT= High Rate of PlayerCharacter Termination
Groovy times.
Thank you to all who made it a great HRPT.
HRPT snack? Moe Fugga's Malt Liquor and Dee's Nuts
Music:
Standard HRPT: Suicidal Tendencies, Ministry, NIN
HRPT w/ undead: Bad Brainz, Rob Zombie and Cradle of Filth
HRPT was ultimately kick ass all-around, just to add my bit.
snack? I didn't eat for like a week... But something with sugar - mountain dew most likely.
Music? Something cheesy with heroic synthesizers blaring in the background, or a somber note to it, because I love cheese, all around.

Also 14 PC deaths? Wow, I didnt know it was that high, I defiantly saw some people going down didn't know it got that high. Kudos to ALL involved, those PCs dead, alive, it was fun. The RP near the end was very fun if you all remember ;).

I mean, what's the point of permadeath if you don't permadie with frequency and gusto?
Oh jesus... I'd start to get just a bit frustrated if I died that often.

I actually think keeping the mundane and the magick separated HELPED people feel more involved and less marginalised.
It's easier to feel like you're part of the Good Guys when you're out there swinging your sword with all the other Good Guys as opposed to standing there guarding an important person while the resident mage squad incinerates all the enemies before they can even pose a threat.
What goes well with an HRPT? A large meal before it starts and a tall glass of water. Snacks are a waste of time.
I can't remember what thread those portable urinals were on, but they definitely go with an HRPT. It could even be on this thread, I'm just not reading back 8 pages to check.
