Title: Keyword vs Count
Post by: spawnloser on October 04, 2006, 12:08:37 AM
You know, I've recently found myself using the 'keyword' command in place of the 'count' command.  One reason for this is that I don't have to specify 'room' when counting objects in the room.  A second reason is that it effectively shows you what different objects are all responding to that keyword, and thus if I had no unique keywords for one object and I just wanted a count on that object, with some simple subtraction, I know how many I am counting of that object rather than all 'black' objects in my pack.  Third, I can 'keyword' to count inside a worn container, which 'count' does not do.

I had a few questions.

First, has anyone else been doing this?

Second, what are people's thoughts on how 'count' is somewhat obsolete with the advent of the 'keyword' command?

Well, I tend to use keyword over count, but in cases where you are dealing with alot of a certain item, count comes into its own.  Plus, some people might not want the spam.

Now here's a good question, how about using keyword to see if someone in a  hood or facewrap is some you should know by sight?  Should you just use assess instead?

Count is still useful for counting coins in a container or room.

I am guilty of doing this.

I would like to see count working for worn containers as well. There's no reason why it shouldn't.

I do this, and I also do what Dalmeth mentioned (although I don't abuse that.)
