Is there something special about rent ticket objects? Do they decay, dissapear at random, expire, or anything along those lines?

They don't decay. They aren't supposed to.
I've never heard of that, but being very light, wouldn't it be easy for someone to sneak a ticket off your person without your immediate notice?
Yeah either it was stolen, you put it somewhere and forgot about it (I can't tell you how many times I've done this with items) or a code bug destroyed it.
