Does Zalanthas have any sort of mythology/astronomy relating to the heavens like Earth does? Are there even stars at all around Zalanthas?
I have wondered if the Zalanthans can see stars too. My thoughts are that with two bright moons, and such a large and strong sun, they may see only a few if any.
As for constellations, if they can be seen, I'm thinking it would depend on the culture. Just as our own stars have gone by different names depending on who was naming them, a d elf tribe might see a runner in the sky, chasing erdlu. While a southern human might see the great dragon. Something like that. I wonder what they'd think if there were falling stars?
Didn't old tuluk used to have an Observetory? That would sort of imply stars, although I suppose it might have only been used for looking at the moons.

The Great Sun Observatory (I don't think that's too IC knowledge, the room description said exactly that, and it wasn't a dangerous area, or a little known area either. Though I haven't really checked since the new Northlands map.... hmm..
if you've ever been lucky enough (perhaps unlucky enough) to see a visible immortal when you type Who, you might notice that they take the form of consellations, or other astrological phenomenons.
But that just might be there style...
so to answer the question I dont know.
I think the Imm constellations is just their own wacky style, and should be treated as a bit of OOC fun instead of IC constellations (that's how I always interpreted it anyway).
IIRC correctly some insane nutters *cough* I mean people with a bit of knowledge of stars brought up the possibility of Zalanthan constellations and Sanvean said she'd be willing to help them develop the stars.
Does anyone know if anything came of that?
Quote from: "a room description somewhere".... blocking out the expanse of stars marking the night sky....
Unless room descriptions lie, yep, there's stars. :)
(Yeah, I know, holy old-thread-reincarnations, batman!)
Yes, Carnage, I saw that too.
Nessalin was pretty vague about whether it was okay to react to them in the gameworld nowadays, however. I'm aware that there were originally no plans to include them.
Does this mean that these room descriptions should all get typo reports, or does this mean that the gameworld has been fleshed out to include the existance of stars? Personally, I'd like to see them exist and able to be roleplayed around, but I'm fine with the other option as well.
I'm seeing a potential for a '-v' flag on the weather command
Truthfully, I would think it a little odd if there were no stars in the night sky. Remember, stars are other suns. So unless Zalanthas exists within a vaccum, there cannot be no stars. However, the question is this: Can we see them? On a night described as clear, you will see stars. On any other night, I would suspect that one cannot.
The desert, on a clear night, is one of the most bestest places to see an amazing view of the heavens, IRL. Whether that translates to Zalanthas, I dunno.
the only possibility I see for not seeing stars is like this-
The Zalanthas world turns completely around on its axis only once a year. Which would mean... the sun would never set.. :(
Anyway.. there are stars.. Never really thought about it. But I saw a room description with twinkling stars in it..
