Title: Display cases.
Post by: Cale_Knight on May 02, 2006, 11:12:54 PM
I want to see display cases whose ldescs are actually changed depending on what's put inside it.

So let's say you have "a delicate baobab display case" and "a really awesome sword."

A room. [WE]
You're in a room. It smells like poo.
A delicate baobab display case hangs from the wall here

You put a really awesome sword in a delicate baobab display case.

A really awesome sword rests in a delicate baobab display case.

This does two things. First, it gets rid of the annoying way you lose drop ldescs during reboots and crashes.

Second, it tightens things up in situations where you have two lines - one for the item and one for the stand, pedestal, whatever. Which go away during every single reboot and crash.

But Display Cases would really suck if they held 100+ items.

There are display cases in game...and they work much like tables.  You put stuff on them, and then you look at them (without having to look 'in' them) and see everything they contain.  I'm content with this.  If they had too much stuff in them, as mansa said, that'd really suck when you walked in and everything spammed your screen.

If you want to mount a sword or a mekillot head on the barrack's wall, I suggest you wish up and have the staff change that specific obj's ldesc to whatever you want, as a display.

I think? I dunno.

I'm happy with how display cases currently work.
