Title: New wear slots?
Post by: jcarter on April 23, 2006, 08:50:30 PM
I didn't want to derail the other threads, but what do people think about a couple of new wear slots?

The sort I'm thinking of are for more aesthetic purposes. For example, being able to wear a sandcloth shirt or something similar underneath a breastplate. Obviously it's not going to give any defensive bonuses, but it's a nice option when faced with being bare-chested underneath that wooden breastplate.

I'd like undergarment slots, not only for the top. I've seen several bras in the game (one of which could be worn on the head   ) and I wanna wear one, but I don't wanna wear only the bra :(

Also, I'd like some items to cover others. If cloaks cover your top and belt, why don't they cover your shoulders? Your arms, for cloaks with sleeves? Why doesn't a helmet cover what's in your hair? (or does it? Now I'm not sure)

Edit: And attachable items would be super cool too. Patches, badges, sleeves, shoulderpads, all those items that obviously are attached to something but doesn't come off when you remove your cloak or shirt or whatever. Is that militia badge attached to your skin or what? I know it's just a tiny detail, and you could just as easily remove the attached item manually, but I think it'd be cool to see something like...

Are corsets meant to be worn underneath a shirt? There seems to be a number of undergarments you just can't wear in polite society, despite it being perfectly reasonable to.

Corsets are meant to be worn underneath a dress with a narrow waist. I've only worn one a few times, and aside from being really uncomfortable, you'll get some very odd looks if you're not wearing anything over it. Unless you're at a goth party or are in a situation where your things are meant to bulge up and out all over the place. You don't go shopping or to the office in a corset.

These are already in-game. There are some pins, badges, medals, etc. which can be attached and viewed by looking at the item (things like sashes, honor bands, that sort of thing). Look around, you'll see them.

I was supposed to submit a new list of wear slots to be possibly implemented and I spaced it. We had a nice discusion about it in the submissions forum. After this Thursday, I'll try to get back on that.
