Ok if you chose weapon crafter why cant you make all the weapons, like maces and staffs and all that, i think thats bs because your a weapon crafter you should be able to craft whatever type of weapon you want i may sound :twisted: but thats bs.
I asked an Imm and I got this "If you wanted to sit around and craft all day, you should have been a merchant."
So. I want them to be able to grab a tree branch, sand a handle out of it and turn it into a club, but hey, it is very hard, I guess.
No, BUT...
I believe that even though a single weaponcrafter subclass should not have access to all of the weapon crafting skills at once, but I also would love to see a choice system implemented where the weaponcrafter in question should be able to pick and choose which ones they want.
A bladecrafter would be knife, spear, and swordcraft... while a more tool oriented weaponcrafter would be axes, blunt (hammers etc) and knife.
If you want something like this at the moment you have to special app for it. I would like to see it fit into an automated choice system at character gen or in the Hall of Kings. You buy your scars, point at your town, and then before you get snapped to the Gaj or wherever, you are asked to pick three selections from the menu to place your weapon crafting skills.
Only a merchant full class should have the ability to produce every weapon. Thats, like, what they do.
I dont understand what a 'weapon crafter' is if he cant make all the weapons BLACK smith are weapon crafters they make everything besides the fact Weapon crafter is a black smith so it should take afect if you get good enough you can make all of the weapons :!:
The merchant guild by itself is just.. odd.
If you want a magicker guild, you can pick 6+ classes.
If you want a combat guild, you can pick 3+ classes.
If you want a theft guild, you can pick 2+ classes.
If you want a crafting guild, you can pick merchant.
yes but do you understand what im saying? in the period of time you should be able to craft maces/axes/ any other type of weapons dosnt matter if ur merchant or not your a -WEAPON CRAFTER- and you should be able to craft any type of weapon main word -weapon-
A weapon crafter is someone who can make some weapons.
A master merchant is someone who can make anything, including ALL types of weapons.
Where's the blurring of definition? I'm not finding it.

class of weapons. All weapons fall into one of four general categories:
bludgeoning, chopping, piercing, and slashing. Stabbing weapons are merely
a subset of piercing ones.
If one possesses, for example, the 'chopping weapons' skill, then one's
usage of an axe is improved both in ability to land blows and to parry
those of others, the degree of improvement depending on one's level of
accomplishment in that skill.
Each category of weapon has its own characteristics, which should become
evident as your character becomes more familiar with its usage., THAT PROVES MY POINT..............

It doesn't say weaponcrafters are masters of making weapons, or they can make each and every type of weaponry known to Zalanthan culture.
As someone said before in this thread, if you want to be able to master crafting skills, choose the merchant guild.

Where does it say that someone that crafts X type of object has to be able to craft all of X...it just says that s/he's limited in that s/he can not craft anything but X type of object.
It's a perfectly understandable belief to think that a weapon crafter could, well, craft all weapons.
Unfortunately, this is not the case and the subguild title of weaponcrafter is a bit of a misnomer.
Perhaps it should be, "swordmaker" or "knifemaker" depending on what is available to the subguild.
