The book will include a section of website stuff, a sampling of player histories from the staff wiki, and several logs. If you have more questions let me know.
Dimensions: 8 1/2 x 11, perfect bound, 350 (or so) pages.
Zalanthas,
Between Life and Death.
I assume "Armageddon" isn't a viable title.
What's the purpose of the book? A collection of histories? An overview of the game/world? Is it supposed to be more like a D&D manual or a collection of short stories?
Sand Is Yummy?
Memoirs of a dying land
Or just
Ginka
for a couple of serious suggestions.
"Steal this Kank".
"Zalanthas and the reason why Nekrete is the best day of the week".
"Krath!'
"Where the elves roam".
Armageddon: Not the Final Chapter
OR
Murder, Corruption, Betrayal
Glimpses of Armageddon
Yes to Zalanthas in Title
No to Armageddon in Title
Zalanthas: Memoirs of a Dying Land
Zalanthas: Between Life and Death
I like those two..
Armageddon: Memoirs of Zalanthas
Then, if there was going to be one to teach you how to play the game.
Armageddon: Player's Handbook
Murder, Corruption, Betrayal - Glimpses of Armageddon
Zalanthas: Between Life and Death
While I like "Steal this Kank" very much, perhaps we can use it as a subtitle?
Murder, Corruption, Betrayal - Glimpses of Armageddon does rock pretty hard...and won't be so indy as to push non-armers away.
Actually I like Murder, Corruption, Betrayal - Glimpses of Zalanthas better.
BTW - I had the extreme pleasure of two very HOT young ladies ask me about my ginka bumper sticker today. Geek Sheik!
:-D
Welcome to Armageddon.
Zalanthas: A Sojourn through a Collective Imagination.
Permadeath
Welcome to Armageddon
Welcome to Zalanthas
Zalanthas - Fifteen Years Beneath The Sun
Pithy Title - Some Kind of Pithy Subtitle
Beep?
I like "Welcome to Armageddon."
Or maybe just a pictorial title of a giant mantis head.
*Beep*
Subtitle: The Adventures of mansa
"The Sun's a Thief"
(From Shakespeare's Timon of Athens. The full line reads:
I'll example you with thievery:
The sun's a thief, and with his great attraction
Robs the great sea.")
Armageddon: If Crack Took An Online Form
Armageddon: Red Sands
Armageddon: Yeah, You Think Spice is Addictive?
Zalanthas: Where Armageddon is the Beginning

Any chance on one or two of your Armageddon stories being published in it? ;)
As for a title, "Tales of Armageddon"?
Tales of Zalanthas
*winks at Sanvean...you know why*
QuoteAny chance on one or two of your Armageddon stories being published in it?
If this does okay, I'll probably put out some more, I've got ideas for about a dozen, heh, and at least one would be Armageddon stories. I did put a couple of new pieces up as mp3s here:

Shade and Water: A History of the Premier Roleplaying MUD in the Known World
or, less seriously,
Are You There, Tektolnes? It's Me, Amos.
Quotere You There, Tektolnes? It's Me, Amos.
That so rocks.
A simple title: Red Sand.
Armageddon: A game. A way of life.
Where the desert doesn't only kill one person, it kills in numbers.
Sand and Bones
A Tale Of Two City-States
ArmageddonMUD - A Glimpse

Let's call it Halasturd, the evil one.

<wipes a tear>
Woo.
Hahahaha.
Ahem.
Tamarin's title comes in a close second, with "
Zalanthas: Tales of the Desert" as my suggestion.
Armageddon: A Roleplaying MUD
A King's Age.
The sands of generation
A thousand years in the desert
I try :P

Armageddon.org
Where murder, torture, and corruption are the beans and biscuits of life.
By having our web addy as the book title, people will see it and say "I wonder if that is a real website, or one like fear.com."
The Sands Of Irony
Houses Built on Sand
Guide to the Known World of Zalanthas, Volume 1
Encyclopedia Zalanthas or Zalanthopedia
A sterile title with rich content would be best.
The giant crimson sun rises in the east.
Travel Cakes
(followed by any of the awesome other titles as a subtitle)
*Expanding on the last post.*
Travel Cakes: A Taste of Zalanthas
Half-giant Burglars and Dwarven prostitutes
The Complete Idiot's Guide to Zalanthas
Lol!
Zalanthas for Dummies
DEFILE ME: A collection of Zalanthas.

I throw my enormous community weight behind Travel Cakes, as it is a great title for your latrine library.

Tales of the Misfired Think
Or some variation. ^.-
Quote from: "flurry"Shade and Water: A History of the Premier Roleplaying MUD in the Known World
I think that's my favorite so far.
Travel Cakes is good, but lacks the seriousness. Maybe if the book had a picture of a skeletal hand half buried in sand holding a couple cakes.
My suggestions
Death, Sand, and Text: A Chronicle of ArmageddonMUD
A Sea of Eternal Dust
Tales of a World Unknown
Shade and Water: The Burning Sands of Zalanthas
Known World
There and Not Back
The Survival Possibility
Sands of Fire
The Sands Don't Forgive
Zalanthas: The Scorched Land
Cheesecake and Corncob Pipes: A Roofer's Guide to Healthy Alternatives
(or any combination/variation of the above)
Zalanthas: The Relentless Rays of Suk Krath
Zalanthas: Under Suk-Krath's Light
I don't think Armageddon should be used in the title. Someone who doesn't play isn't going to think fantasy anything. A number of things like movies, Christanity and Bruce Willis are going to come to mind. I like using Zalanthas though.
Yes, We Do More Than Just Mudsex
A Brief History of Zalanthas
Bunny Hugging Tree Lovers and Their Happy Southern Friends
Planet of the Kanks
A Shield Wall Runs Through It
The Last Byn Runner

or

Just a few I could think of =P.
-Omen
Zalanthas:Rain or Shine
Book of the Latter Day Templars
Grass is Greener on the other Dune
A Day in the Life of an Average Amos
Tarantulas, Big or Small, We Must Kill 'Em All
Who was talking on the think. thingy? also, I think the book should be a story which slowly explains Arm. I don't think people would read that sorta thing. Although interesting, lacks entertainment for non armers, which, is supposedly, our goal.

Tales of Magick and Adventure from the land of Zalanthas
I like Zalanthas: Murder, Corruption, Betrayal (Medena), going to go with that for this one.
These take about a week of intensive or three months lackadaisical work to put together, heh, but they're kinda fun, so I might try to put one out every 4-6 months. Here are other possibilities, some of which incorporate suggestions from the thread:
Clan Books
Anyali (Zalanthas: Agvat Sunrise (JRB))
Atrium (Zalanthas: The Silver Ginka)
Black Moon & Other Raiders (Zalanthas: The Copper-skinned Dwarf)
Borsail (Zalanthas: The Slaver's Whip)
Conclave (Zalanthas: The Magicker's Hand)
Fale (Zalanthas: Amethyst and Emerald)
Guild (Zalanthas: Death in the Shadows)
Haruch Kemad (Zalanthas: Blood in the Alleyways)
Kadius (Zalanthas: ???)
Kohmar (Zalanthas: Fall of a Merchant House)
Kurac (Zalanthas: The Bloody Fist)
Oash (Zalanthas: Blood and Magic)
Salarr (Zalanthas: Sand and Bones)
Tan Muark (Zalanthas: Tyn Dashra)
Tor (Zalanthas: The Bones of War)
T'zai Byn (Zalanthas: Three Sleeve Knots)
Assorted Desert Elves (Zalanthas: Red Sands (Ktavialt))
Halflings (Zalanthas: Life in the Grey Forest)
Nonhumans (Zalanthas: Weird Blood)
(Galith, Gith, Mantis, Ghaati, Thornwalkers, were-tembo)
Ghost Stories of Zalanthas (Zalanthas: Ghost Stories)
Crafting (Zalanthas: Travel Cakes (Seeker))
Magick (Zalanthas: The Demon's Puzzlebox)
Logs (Zalanthas: Death, Sand, and Text: (Ender))
OOC History (Armageddon: A Roleplaying MUD (Manhattan)
Stories (Zalanthas: Tales (John, Tamarin))
Bards (Zalanthas: Poets' Circle)
Allanak (Byn Latrines, Sand, and Jail: A Tourist's Guide to Allanak (jhunter))
Tuluk (Old and New Conjoined: A Tourist's Guide to Tuluk)
Luirs (Spice and Mantis: A Tourist's Guide to Luirs)
Tablelands (Zalanthas: Red Sky (Angela Christine))
Mal Krian (Zalanthas: The Slaves' City)
The Red Desert (Zalanthas: The Sun's a Thief (Falconer))
Red Storm (The Sea of Eternal Dust: A Tourist's Guide to Red Storm (Ender))
Personalities (Zalanthas: Brief Lives)
Story of the Northern War (Zalanthas: The Sound of the Horn)
Early Days History (Shade and Water: Early History of Zalanthas (flurry, Ender))
That's 37 books by my count, which would end up being 10 years worth of work if released every three months and about 18 years if released every 6 months. Heh. Well, we'll see how this one sells and whether or not it's worthwhile. ;) It would be cool to have a larger advertising budget and this might help us get there.

Mwahaha.
I vote for that one.
Kadius: Silks and Shoes
Tuluk (Behind The Ivory City: A Tourist's Guide to Tuluk)
I'm also down with T'zai Byn (Zalanthas: Over The Shield Wall)
I'd like a:
Deaths of Famous Personalities (Journey to the Mantis Head)
Or perhaps...
Zalanthas: To the Shield Wall and Beyond.
Sounds adventurous, almost like they meant to do it. :P
Kadius: Silk and Sids (sorry jhunter, silk and shoes doesnt sound right to me  )
I also think the title for Kurac should include spice in it, maybe:
Kurac: Inside the Spice Den
Also would these clan books have large sections devoted to histories of past players? That would really interest me, and maybe when made publicly available could be incorporated more into RP as famous people of the past. For those of us who only started a few years ago.

Yea, three sleeve knots doesn't arouse nearly as much interest as "over the shield wall" or my fav: "The shield wall and beyond."
Hell, I played in the Byn for a good year or so awhile back and I had to think real hard to remember what the knots are for. And considering most players experiences are with the lower levels of the Byn, and the shield wall is probably the most well known (and funniest) event from the Byn, the title should refer to it.

I know that 'sids is probably in the docs and all, but the plural of obsidian is obsidian. So wouldn't the plural of 'sid be more 'sid?
It just drives me nuts.

Sids isn't short for obsidian, it is short for "obsidian coins". :P
Kadius: Concubines deserve the best....
Hey, it's straight from the town crier, don't yell at me!
=D
I must recommend a few titles for The Conclave though...
Conclave: Weavers of the Great Tapestry.
Conclave: Heirs to an Ancient Throne.
Conclave: Circle of the Incomplete Seven.
What can I say? It's my favorite clan.
