Title: Panic/Flee
Post by: Moofassa on March 21, 2006, 08:30:50 PM
Panic/Flee

Today, while sparring, I realised, no matter what, you always "The man panics, and attempts to flee."

This is not always the case. At times you are breaking from a sparring match, other times you are strategically running away to bombard them at the next corner.

I propose the panic command, for the more appropriate RP of panicking, and the flee for fleeing away purposely, under sound mind.

Banzai!!!!
Must we remove all the diku history?  ;)

Think of the triggers!  (I'd guess {^You PANIC} is one of the highest-used in MUDdom.)

How about the ability to emote while fleeing, and remove panic, simply leaving you with ... 'The man flees.' ... or, 'Falling back with smirk, the man flees.'

That's a really great idea.  We have tagged emotes to walking, get, drink, eat, etc...and more on the way I think.  Why don't we add one to flee?

flee shows "The man flees east"
flee (running for his life) shows "Running for his life, the man flees east"
flee (backing up from the sparring circle) shows...you get the picture

Great, more things to type when trying to haul ass so that you can save it?

I would like to see the flee echo changed to a generic:

You attempt to flee.
The yellow gith attempts to flee.

You flee from the fight.
You flee east.
The yellow gith flees east.

That way, it covers all kinds of situations without the awkward use of 'panic'.

Combat emotes would only make it sexier.  If you don't have time, then don't emote.

Hauling ass across the dunes, Delirium flees west.

Diving over the numut-vine rope of the training ring, stumbling across the dusty ground as his blades flail about, rishenko flees west!

Can you dig it?  I can dig it.

This sounds like a good idea.  Aldiel likes.  :D

What about a <stop> command?

>>stop
You signal to a horned elven woman that you wish to stop fighting.

She sees:

A knob-nosed dwarven woman signals that she wishes to stop fighting.

You lightly slash a knob-nosed dwarven woman on the arm.

>>stop

You agree to a knob-nosed dwarven woman and stop fighting.

Benefit: No one leaves the room, and no one needs to flee, but combat is ended.  I could see this being particularly useful in spars.

Yeah, something similar has been mentioned before. It would be nice to have, but we are able to work around it currently so it isn't of high priority if I remember correctly.

As any real Zalanthan knows, anyone who ever uses the flee command under any circumstances is a total wuss who is clearly panicking.

Seriously, first you take away my Banzai and now you want to take away my  panic?  Where does it end?

When we reboot next flee with command emotes will be in.  Submit any bug reports through the game, and if you want to, mail them to morgenes@ginka.armageddon.org.

Since I don't have the patience to do what she did...

...yeah, what she said.

Cool as hell, though I do see most people, in those critical instances, not using it...but for sparring, beautiful.

Morgenes, you are now officially my hero.

If I remember right, this is on either Halaster or Xygax's list of things to do. We'll probably see it within the year.

And thanks for the emotes on flee. I am ... like, super happy now.
