Title: Skill Revive or I Have a Better Idea
Post by: EvilRoeSlade on February 04, 2006, 05:56:03 PM
I don't agree with implimenting a forcefeed command, and I feel that my arguements are vindicated by RL scientific factors.

I have however, thought of a solution that I believe to be superior.  A skill that would be called Revive.

Using this skill on an unconscious or mortally wounded character would cause them to regain conscious for a few precious seconds, possibly enough to eat a morself of food, or swallow a drink of water.

Success would depend on skill level as well as the target's race and endurance score.

For example, character's with high endurance are easier to revive than characters with low endurance.  Dwarves are easier to revive than humans, who are easier to revive than half-giants.

The amount of awake time granted to the target would also depend on skill and the target's endurance score, but not race.

Like flee and subdue, this would be a skill that almost anyone could attempt with a small chance for success.  Possessing this skill at a high level simply gives you the ability to reliably revive and save the life of your target even in life-threatening situations.

I like it. Who would get it? Every class/race?

I think those with an extreamly high bandage skill should be able to successfully revive people for a short period of time. Though the skill could be used by everyone, but it would have a very low chance of success.

I sorta like it, I only wonder one thing.

How long would they be awake?

I wonder this because, realisticly, somebody out cold would have no idea you stuck a pill in their hand till after they were awake and you told them, but as the emote system stands now, the player probly would know since you can see emotes while out cold and most people emote before giving items.

But other then that little trifle, its a fine idea.

help bandage

QuoteSkill Bandage                                                      (General)

The bandage skill can be used to help those that are injured, although
the skill of the healer has much to do with how much can be healed. The
more injured one is, the greater skill is required to heal the wound. A
truly talented individual, using high quality bandages may even be able to
cure some poisons through skilled first aid.  Such an individual may learn
to craft their own bandages, either out of cloth or herbal soaked fabric,
as well as other cures, such as smelling salts.

You can already do this.

Crafting an item and an preforming a skill are very different, even if they are to the same end.. I would like to see physicians be able to do this as a command seperate from smelling salts.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe that smelling salts won't wake someone up that is at negative hitpoints.

You are correct.

I like Slade ....

..and his idea.. but that's not saying much. I think forcefeed is cool too. If one were easier to code than the other, my vote would lie there. Either way, it seems like this is a problem the players are really interested in. I wonder if the idea will catch the eye of one of our talented staff?
