Title: Crafting failures + salvage?
Post by: Only He Stands There on January 09, 2006, 02:21:07 AM
Here's an idea...

So, some crafting failures give you what is known as a "fail object" or "failobj." Some don't.

Well, if I'm working a piece of bone into a nice earring and botch it, granted, they can't give me the piece of bone back. So, why not give me back the salvage object for whatever material I'm working, if there's no fail object specified?

I.E. making a long piece of bone into a bone arrowshaft. I succeed, I get the arrowshaft, the long piece of bone is consumed. I fail, the long piece of bone is consumed, and I get a splinter of bone.

Thoughts?

I think for some ideas this would be great. After all, if you break something while trying to craft it, with some materials there might still be some useful bits leftover instead of it just disappearing.

I think this is a great idea.

It adds a little bit more realism.
