Why can you not whisper to youself? I understand that you might as well think the thought instead, but suppose you have a reason for actually saying it, like you have a hunting pet and you do something like this:
whisper Alright, hawk, here we go!
Anybody see any sense in this?
I use that a lot but with: say (murmuring to him/herself quietly)
or simply "think."
On the other hand I liked that idea, but I guess that's a bit hard to code.
This is a topic thats been brough up several times. I don't remember if there was an imm comment towards the ability to code. (Although I who has no clue of the mud codebase think it should be fairly easy...doesn't know)

I'm for it.
I have let characters fall into the habit of talking to themselves before, and don't see anything wrong with just using the 'say' command. Usually used in conjuction with the 'think' command quite a lot. Finishing a thought out loud, or words trailing off to thoughts. That sort of thing.
Along the same vein, I'd like to be able to talk to sleeping characters, even if they won't hear me. The whole "leave him alone, he's sleeping!" thing is really annoying.
say (looking towards %sleeper sleeping form) I'm going to stab you in the face as soon as you wake up.
I would like whisper self so you could talk under your breath and maybe overheard by some servant or something, There are definite RP oppertunities there.

think Murmuring: Fucking templars. <-- Rather pointless.
Also, being unable to 'tell' sleeping characters is pretty silly and jarring.
