I'll start, here is a gaff I remembered earlier today.

Welcome to Armageddon!
(okay, so there was no "think" command. but you get the idea)
My first character:
Sweet! I have backstab! *backstab slave* *dragged to jail* *templar walks in* Meh. *lose link*
Second character (a borsail decked out in nice silks and armors):
"Look out for any muls that need to be licensed." *enter labyrinth* *enter screaming mantis* *tell mul I don't see a collar on you, mul. Come with me, and we'll have you registered as a slave.*
give ticket man
Note: Bleh...char names from my first three chars...long ago. I wouldnt say it's any deal that it be mentioned. Safe to say...I died to the same npc...three times in a row. Heh...I'd say thats pretty bad. Didn't learn my lessons where not to go.
Character Pinfos:
toresh (dead)
Toresh (Dracul) has been killed by the dark tattooed dwarf in room
#77228,
amen.
tauski (dead)
Tauski (Dracul) has been killed by the dark tattooed dwarf in room
#77228,
amen.
kaz (dead)
Kaz (Dracul) has been killed by the dark tattooed dwarf in room #77228,
amen.
emote smiles at the ignorant guards as she slowly sneaks through the barracks unseen.
Probably my worst was during a chat with a noble, where I casually mentioned that I was a pickpocket.
Also, as a newb, I had a horrible tendency to use the OOC command to critique people's roleplay (people that were quite often more experienced than I, mind you).
God, I was such a little bastard.
Walked around with sneak on until an NPC guard knocked me out (I wasn't trying to sneak past him, I was just oblivious) and someone stole all my newbie coins.
It also took me forever to figure out how to put coins in my pack and take them back out, so I walked around with all my coins in my inventory.
Looted my own corpse. Twice.
Practiced backstab back and forth on a friend.
Sneak. north hide north hide north hide north hide north hide...<repeat ad nauseum>
hmmmmm at first i thought it was hack and slash so ya think about it..............
i got into a bar fight with byners damn it was fun smashing a chair on that guy lol then a templar came charged me with something and told me if i want to live give me 1000 coinsi told him to make your own damn money i robbed alot of people to get this
the it said
welcome to armageddon
also i remeber the first time i had spice in the game i got it from red storm got it into allanak by luck rolled some up and as i was smoking it, then a templar came by and asked what i was doing. not knowing it was illegal and still didn't understand the power of these templars had i did this
btw i was a pur elf
tell templar Its spice, Wana drag
he gave me a weird look and then dragged me to the arena
I've been trying to figure out, based on his writing patterns, which country killa comes from. Sadly, I find myself stumped.

im canadian sry trying to break net language very hard
Sparring with a dwarf while not wearing a helmet.
I spent a good amount of time out cold after sparring.
When I first started.....I used to attack nobles then make another character to do it again and again. I used to knock out npcs/pcs and practice backstab on them. I remember getting into it with pcs with my city-elves and hiding and stealing their weapons before I attacked them. And the list would probably go on if I thought hard enough on the subject.
I do stupid things now more than I do when I was new.

That's how he is in game, and how he has been for the last three years. Not that that's... anything bad. Ahem.
I'm still having trouble with emote commands!
<insert your character's description> eyes <insert keyword>.
The stupid kank eyes red
I've always loved the 'rinth... though looking back over my account notes from my first few characters it would appear that Arm hadn't quite clicked with me at that stage
Char #1 has been killed by the bulky, grim-faced man in room #77130, amen
Char #2 has been killed by an elven rogue in room #77225, amen.
Char #3 Wearing rags, killing kids in the 'rinth, 5am. Flagged Borsail. They hire anyone these days.
Char #4 Been a bad boy lately, killing 'rinthers.
Luckily Char #4 was the time Arm dropped into place with me and he went on for another 20 RL months. I don't know what I was thinking before... but it didn't go un-noticed as I found out later.
Oh, with my first "outdoor" character (8 or 9 months after I started playing), I used to often fight while mounted. I didn't know! That PC was solo most of the time, so it didn't dawn on me until a tribemate yelled for me to get down off my mount. No wonder combat seemed so hard sometimes.
Oh oh, I did what Boggis did as well.
Now, how did you guys get your notes from? I want to look at mine too. Probably would be something like, blatant killings in the rinth, a miracle no groups took care of him. To my defense, I add, that was my first rinthi.

You pc's butt must have been glued to the mount. What luck to survive till then. I get thrown off ever so often, heh. Hell, I have trouble fighting off my mount..

I remember the day that I woke up and finally realized that after b*tching about twinks for years that I was a huge-arsed twink myself.
Every character I made instantly knew how to travel from Tuluk to Allanak while avoiding Gith (there were many more back in the day).
When I suddenly realized that my characters shouldn't necessarily know this route within their first few hours of game time (god knows why I felt the need to go one place to the other so soon) then I started playing the game, instead of just mudding.

You forgot moving from Nak to Tuluk in less than one day, or even in the span of only one 'time change'.
Quote from: "Anonymous"Now, how did you guys get your notes from?
Send a polite email to mud requesting your account notes. It might take a little while (since a request like that is low priority). When I say a little while, I mean two or three weeks.
Me (to another PC I met on Caravan Way): Hey there, do you think you can give me a tour of the city, I am new here.
Other person: What?
Me: You know, just show me around the important places?
Other person: You are asking me?
Me: Yeah, why do you ask? You seem like you could use a little fresh air and exercise no?
Other person: Hmms, very well, just this once.
Me: Follow <other person>
Me: So, what's your name mate?
Other person: Lord Rendias Borsail.
-nuff said:)

EDIT: Uh... really forgive me... It just slipped away.. Sorry about leaking information. I didn't mean to.
Too much info. Please edit that last paragraph, Cenghiz.
I sincerely doubt that is general knowledge.
It was some time ago, but I do remember an immortal coming into a square to scold another player who was using ooc to speak with me.
That character being my first, I actually typed >kill <immortal name>, and swiped through the air at them. Needless to say, after I realized what I had done, I felt extremely stupid.
About 4 years ago, I mugged a 'rinther for his "'rinth-safe" armor pants. Hilarity has ensued since. (Irony.)
About 3 years ago, I got trapped inside a noble's estate and, not wanting to just wait around for a PC to log in, I killed a guard that I knew had a key, then killed the 2 NPC guards guarding the only way out. Nessalin caught me red-handed and slew me for this one, heh. (Justice served.)
About a year ago, a very large, skilled group I was with was having a very difficult time killing a certain critter (the half-giants couldn't even scratch it), so I moved into the next room and threw my three throwing knives 5-10 times apiece to bring the beast to terrible condition, whereupon I decided to play hero and try to kill it with a backstab...and it killed me. (Poetic justice.)
The sad thing is, I can't really claim newbie status to excuse any of these things...I've been playing off and on since 1997 or 1998. Sometimes my "get the power-up and win the game" instinct just trumps my better judgement.
I beleive my first time IG, about 3 years ago I got into an argument with an elf shouting in the Sanc just after my three hours newb time was up. A templar asked what was going on and I beleive the rest of the conversation went something like this.
Me(shouting of course): "Who the feck are you to be telling me what to do?"
*beep*
I also remember my second charsomeone wanting me to teach them Allundean and I copied and pasted random letters over and over again until he learned it, lol, not to mention going down my entire skill list to teach him everything else I knew for a total of 150 sid. All of this taking place within about 5 minutes time.
Heh, glancing over the documentation I remembered how 'mindbenders' were feared by everyone. The first time someone contacted me, you can beleive I screamed psionic and lunged at them with swords (thwarted instantly by 4 big guards of course) Note to self: Read documentation more thoroughly.
Well.
I dated the same female pc with three of my pcs. (I had a thing with the way she acted and my selection overall)
I was killed (I enjoyed the death a lot,in my own sick ways) and created a revenge pc. (It was stupid, since an imm killed me, both times)
I can't figure out what I would think.
I practically yelled at a templar. (Died soon after. Is it newbie to be all big and bad then break down and cry with my pc?)
One of my pcs got arrested twice for carrying the same thing on them both times, i got killeed and resurected. Then got killed again smuggling something similir. (Like I got caught with a red stone, so I brought in a blue stone type of thing)
I thought nobles were under my awesomeness.
I thought I should wear silk with the 'sid that I twinked out to get.
Robing the guild for ten grand..mud crash.. Hey robing the guild for anouther ten grand.. And of corse, never getting to spend any of it..
Stupid things I've done...new or not :)
1. Cutting of my hair ICLY and trying to dye it with fruits juices hoping the color would miraculously change (with my 1st PC)
2. Undressing in public while playing a templar to try on clothes
3. While playing as an imm, animating an NPC with a player - and instead of saying what the NPC would say - I said something I meant for ithe other imms to hear that generally gave away the plot I had in mind.
4. Asking for chicken breast during a tender rp scene
5. Typing kill instead of kiss
6. When I played my first templar years ago (long before on staff) - I was involved in a heavy plot and I ended up spilling a secret which resulted in some serious reprocussions by my superiors and a roleplay scene of those reprocussions that had me nearly peeing my pants, heh.
K.
It was a dark and stormy night. I was roaming around, as I am wont to do, when I happened accross a cache of spice. A large cache of spice. Bricks and bricks of spice, in a crate. Sure, there were a couple NPCs in the room, but they weren't looking at the crate, and didn't seem to notice me. So, naturally, I took as much spice as I could carry and ran off to sell it at a Kuraci shop, never mind that Kurac was probably the original owner and would be looking for it. Then I went back and filled up my pack again. Not even a thief, just an opportunist. The next day, after a good sleep, I realized that this was a very stupid thing to do. If the Kuraci weren't actually looking for my PC, they really ought to be, so she should get out of town. Saddly, even the Byn wouldn't hire her, and there are only so many places you can go to avoid Kuracis. She died a couple weeks later, in an unrelated incident -- it was something of a relief.
AC
Once I was wathcing a couple having mudsex. And I went like
> think OOC Mud PORN!!
I have no damn idea why I did that
Oooh.. there's a halfling over there. Such a friendly, cheerful fella, let's talk to him!
I re-read all the docs twice after that one :D
think: it's safe here
:walks over to ~board and begins reading it.
Thankfully, I've seen this one done many...many...many...times since so it doesn't bother me much.
Yes, I was talking with someone, and he asked me where I learn. I told him to look at board. It is over there
kill bahamet
This one also classifies as one of my fav. deaths:
> mount carru
Entering a wezer nest, since I could kill the ones that came out after me.
Taking my halfling to play in Flint's tavern in Tuluk.
Creating dwarven whiran after dwarven whiran to play "distant relative" to my buddy's dwarven krathi.
Seeing two silver necklaces on the ground, typing "get all," getting zapped by the necklaces, then standing there going "huh, that was weird," until magickal currents started swirling around someone.
Hey, there's four copper-skinned dwarves! My buddy (in the computer lab) said he was with a dwarf, that must be them!
Fighting five scorpions, getting whacked around, and typing "bash" rather than "flee."
Typing "assist dude" right after dude attacked an undead templar and their contingent of undead half-giant guards.
Saying "sure, I'll go hunt with you, uh, sister, since we're both elves but don't know one another" right after stealing 20,000 sid from the carcass of a rich merchant assassinated at a huge public meeting.
(I think all of those were in my first six months of playing.)
The first MUD I ever played with a H/S MUD with lots of fun socials. I loved doing socials with people.
So, I finally get onto Arm and wonder around a bit. This was back when the newbie starting place was right outside of Traders. I wonder into Traders and there's a guy in there. The chocolate-haired something I believe. So me, being the silly person that I am, typed poke chocolate. Of course this turned out to the an Oashi noble, and they took great care of it icly(didn't kill me) as well as explaining to my oocly not to just poke random people.
And then I got completly lost in Nak and ended up quitting out in what turned out to be someone's house since then next time I logged on I was locked in.
Then, with the same char, I found someone and we went into an empty building to practice sparring. Then we went to the desert to kill stuff. I died.
Then I had a char in the Byn. She died in a stupid sparring accident. She had a love interest and really cool friends so I made a friend. She had the same love interest and friends. She ended up living forever and having 50+ days on her. Was killed when I accidently walked into a Naki army camp up north.
That's probably my only really bad ones. I told people oocly I was dead, and they used that info icly. I never talked to that person again. And I SUPPOSE you could calll some of the combat training twinkish. I didn't super spam it, but I did use kick often when I was working on it. But that's what you do when you fight, right? Do it over and over?
-Tortall, who never was a twink... Truly!
This thread is hilarious. I died at the Lord Borsail tour guide and was there for jhunter's mishap.
I'm sitting in the Gaj when a soldier is animated... My character was an amnesiac, it was the only way I could excuse being ICly stupid.
Soldier tells you: Have you been to devotions today?
Tell soldier: No. What's it to you?
Soldier tells you: You mean you haven't paid hommage to our GREAT HIGHLORD TEKTOLNES, ruler of all?!?
Tell soldier: What should I care about some stupid highlord? You ain't the boss of me!
Soldier tells you: Follow me.
Luckily he didn't kill me, he took me outside the gates and educated me in front of the statue of the dragon. Whoever that Imm was, thank you.
Same character, my first one:
Fell in love with a KRATHI.
Fell in love with a RED ROBE and told said RED ROBE that she was no one's whore and that she was NOT about to become his concubine.
Had a pet rat in the Byn latrines who she referred to as Bob, she also had a latrine cleaning song to the tune of "Dixie".
Blatantly spammed kick in every sparring session.
I'm amazed at how tolerant the Imms are at twinky newbie shit.
Thanks guys.
>em drops to a knee and digs knife into ~corpse
>skin bahamet

[Stand around for about 5 minutes wondering why everybody's staring at me expectantly/strangely]
say Uh, who gets what?
My first character, and another newbie friend sat in the Trader's (Since that's the only tavern, we manage to find after leaving Byn Compound).
When I saw a templar, I was excited, she was one of those with great short descs.. (eh templar after). I try to convience other newbie to kiss the templar. Then in that they, I learned there is a skill called "listen." Everything solved in ICly in a very cool way.
That was one of my favourite days in ARM. Ah.. Thanks to that Templar..
I was a hunter and looking for Salarr to spend my money on special orders. I sat at bar in Traders, and started to wait. An Imm animated the bartender and asked me what I want. I said no thank I am looking for Salarri. He help me a little. Then, I opened my pack, and get bloodied antennae and some legs. At that instance, I was kicked out of Traders
