something.
That was fucking amazing. I always look forward to the next post, and then got blown away by it. ;D I like the issues, I like the crazy.
I too am a little disappointed that Tek seems to have the maturity of a spoiled teenager. On the other hand, it's pretty badass that he ended the Ironsword siege pretty much on a whim.
I've heard that learning to dragon can involve Nebuchadnezzar-style mood swings.
Jesus, Tek is a fucking sociopath.
Amazing. I love that he still has time for the little things in life.
Kuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuudos to staff, for doing that thread.

Does this have anything to do with a pair of RPTs near the mines in early 2006? Including the one where Lord Templar Malenthis got his wings?
That place has bad juju.
I'm assuming he was wondering if we'd ask for names. I am curious as to whom Luir was fighting in the mine (I assume it was a Templar), but I don't think the fellow in ornate robes needs introduction.
I thought it was Tek vs. Luir.
Quote from: History Docs744
Tektolnes confronts Luir Dragonsthrall deep in the obsidian mines of Allanak. By use of incredible magicks, Tektolnes buries Luir under ninety-nine feet of rock.
It is, but there seems to be a third actor in that last scene, and though I suppose it must be a Templar, I am curious as to whether it is or not.
I thought it was Tek being surprised as he gets out? Or... ?
Oh, I'd much rather watch you guys figure it out than actually answer anything, trust me.
I mean this in the nicest way possible : Nyr, you're a bastard for fielding questions like that, and I love you for it.
That little bit of flavor text weaved in between the story, that was nice. Was it wholly original or adapted?
The style? I'm sure that's adapted, but I did do something similar in another story that I actually wrote first (will be released soon).
The choice of content? Original, with credit to Shalooonsh for inspiration.

Yeah, we see the end from Luir's eyes, maybe? Because he says "
His face" at the end. So that has to be Tek.
WRINKLED hand guys, WRINKLED hand. I'm sure there might be a few wrinkly old templars out there. But when I saw that I thought of a pruned up old Tek who came out of his tower for the first time in years. Plus the way the fight is described, the person is cocky=aka Tek.
He then ascended and in front of the mine was that figure and then he was all shocked. Then it goes to the 99 feet of stone. You all know who was buried under 99 feet of stone. I'd be surprised too if some guy I buried in 99 feet of stone showed up a 1000+ later. Or maybe it is someone else, I'm pretty sure of it.
(Interred that from the post)
Also from all the posts is it me or does Tek seem to be a mul?
"Low-hanging Suk-Krath shone from behind the Tower, distorting shadows so that its form looked like a stunted, hunched dwarf squatting on the baked clay beneath. He stood within its shade, face expressionless as he regarded the smooth black stone. It was complete, and he was pleased."
"he laughed, throwing back his head, muscular body convulsing as the sound bubbled forth from his chest."
and so forth.
Constantly referring to his muscular nature and manliness(and probably big man pecks too). It would explain his anger in a lot of the 'Coming Soon..' things. Of course being 2,000 or so years old and constantly bored and all-powerful would do that too../shrug. He seems to have daddy issues too.
Edit: It references his mom, and mul mommies die in birth so he can't be a mul. NM
Edit2: Luir might be wrinkly too, owning whatever minion he kills and being shocked when he sees Tek. Bah my views always get owned whenever someone else posts.

Well, this refers to a being that had lived for hundreds of years, and this fits with Tektolnes, who at the time of the defeat of Luir Dragonsthrall would have been approximately 454 years old. That much fits.
Yet, it's conspicuous that there's no date at the top of this entry, like there was for
all of the previous entries.
Plus, we've already had an entry about the defeat of Luir, haven't we? That suggests to me that this
isn't what this one is about at all, and is in fact something very different and much more recent.
What if we're seeing from the point of view of
Tektolnes? Remember, there is at least one other being in the Known World whose male pronoun is always capitalized.

Quote from: The Historyc.400
A hitherto unkown warrior named Muk Utep sacks the twelve tribes at Gol Krathu with an army of terrible barbarians out of the northwest. The tribes called the Elves of Mallok and the Twin Warlocks are among the conquered. The city-state of Tuluk begins to rise under Utep the Sun King.
Over 1000 years at least.
Maybe Utep wasn't the only one to have a little face to face with the dragon. We all know Tek pulled his little human to dragon stuff, so it's not that much of a stretch to think the dragon went to human form/size.
Maybe Luir had lured someone into the mine and killed them for whatever reason and the very end portion is where Tek showed up to show him how to really bury someone.
I personally think Tek used Luir to kill his father.
c.312
Quintus' son, aged 22, treacherously slays his father and assumes control of the kingdom, now called Allanak.
I think Luir is the beggar outside of the Trader's Inn.
Ever do a keyword Luir around there?
Try it.
What a waste of large chunks of obsidian :(
Tek could have made at least fifty obsidian breastplates out of it all.

Minimum age is 1186, probably several years older, possibly more since the history doesn't indicate how old he was when he sacked gol Krathu. The current year is 1586. Tek's age can be calculated accuratly

So tek's age is 1296. Muk could be older or younger.

Also from website http://www.armageddon.org/general/city.html#allanak
For all its richness, the economy of Allanak is typically under-going wild fluxuations and is under much strain. Wrote Tektolnes Senior Templar (and bastard child) Cohran, "His Gloriousness's recent attempt to purify the minds of his people by banning the trade of the spice will certainly have grave ramifications on the well-being of the average man."
So he can father children thus making him not a mul unless he adopts chinese babies.

I'm under the impression that Luir is the one with the wrinkly hands (pre-dragon) who tries to bury the younger Tek (very post dragon). Luir thinks Tek is buried successfully but when he turns it's Tek "HIS face" that's on the outside. Then it's Tek's "Turn" and Tek buries Luir for good.
I wonder if the initial victim is a black-robed templar. Someone like that would feel pretty confident in his power.

The following interpretation is my own and assumes that the "Coming Soon" articles are not all in chronological order.
At some point in the story an ominous darkening of the sky occurs to the south, likely marking a very powerful and evil person's heated arrival. My interpretation is that a particular {color} robed Templar displeases Tektolnes by trying to accomplish something in a mine guarded by Allanaki soldiers. Tektolnes, angry teenage dragon that he is, kills the Templar. After easily killing his underling Tek, knowing in the back of his mind that Luir was buried underground ages ago, turns around and is shocked to see the face of Luir Dragonsthrall staring at him.

In regards to the previous entry:
I really have my doubts as to whether Luir's involved in this at all. Nyr has obviously made a point to not include a date, whereas a date has been included for just about every other "Coming Soon..." entry up until that point. Plus, there's already been an entry about Tektolnes' burying of Luir. I think we're dealing with a different situation entirely, and one that, until this point, probably hasn't been public knowledge.
In regards to the current entry:
See, now this one leaves a little less up to interpretation while remaining suitably badass. Oh, and Nyr? The italicized flavor text thing in these past couple entries is awesome. I may have to use a similar technique in my own writing of short stories in the near future.

It's probably also a
very good rule of thumb to
never, ever assocciate anything read in these stories with anything your character knows, at all, no matter what background he or she has, unless approved by Staff on a character-specific basis. Most Nobles wouldn't have this sort of knowledge.

I don't think this can be the case. I wouldn't expect a templar to smirk at the Highlord Tektolnes, where, after all, her or his power presumably derives from to start with. Terror would be more likely, in my opinion.
Or... Luir tried to Lure Tek there, but Tek sent a Templar. That templar got murdered. Then luir got buried.
It's got nothing to do with a Templar. In the story it mentions the unnamed victim's fame. It seems unlikely that this would indicate robes of any sort.

I think all the PC sorcs committed suicide with rusty iron daggers after the uber-special-app influx after the game was first announced to close.
On a more serious note, I wanted to comment on Priest's story. It's so awesome. [/comment] Priest and my character were best buds. Those were some of the best Arm days I ever had.
