Is there a cheat sheet of common code syntax somewhere?
Help Emote is a -huge- help.
Common syntax?
N - North
E - East
S -South
W - West
Exit: shows you exits
L (n e s w)
Shows you the direction you look in
Mercy on: You won't automatically go for a killing blow or attack fleeing targets.
Mercy off: The opposite of mercy on
Nosave Combat: Toggles whether you attack back if someone initiates combat.
Nosave in general
Draw <item, sheath> Draws the item from that sheath.
Sheath <item, sheath> Sheaths an item into a sheath or location.
Kill <x>: Initiates combat.
Hit <x>: Inside a bar, initiates brawl code. Outside a bar... uh, don't do it. Just do kill.
sit at <table/bench/etc>
look tables (to see who's sitting where and if there's any seats left)
- Also, you can also do 'sit at 1/2/3' etc.

There's a lot of info here, but this is a great place to look for stuff.

Please feel free to keep adding to this thread. Once it reaches a stage of 'completion' (as deemed by you the players) we can look at a few options including stickying this and adding it to the website in a prominent position so that newbies can access it as they first enter the game.
Can it be stickied now?
Also See the walkthrough on the main page: http://armageddon.org/intro/walkthrough.php (http://armageddon.org/intro/walkthrough.php)
Perhaps as UX "walkthrough" isn't as self-intuitive as "New Player Guide"?

sit at <table/bench/etc>
It took me awhile to figure out to use 'sit with <target>' in busy places wilth multiple seating options. Saves you a lot of grief in the long run!

Also a lot of the 'neat little things thread' has weird useful stuff, like 'key .'
Rest while mounted will dismount you and rest your mount.
Sniff command.
Sip command.
Taste command.
You want these things and you want to use them.

I love the taste command. I wish I'd known about it when I first started playing. I never tasted any of the sandwiches I ate.
Fuck you and your sandwiches too.
More common syntax:
Look <person's> item
For instanc
Look amos's shirt
Drop too.
Drop sword (clattering to the floor) Will show the emote Amos drops his sword, calttering to the floor
Drop sword chipped and gore-encrusted (no brackets) will arrange the item as you drop it (See HELP ARRANGE) so it will show to the room as
A weapons training room exits: N E S W
Blood dust, sweat, tears, teeth and runners litter the floor of this training pit.
A sand filled dummy is here
A sword is here, chipped and gore-encrusted.
You can even mix it up and
Drop sword chipped and gore-encrusted (allowing it to fall with a heavy thump) Which will both emote and arrange in the same command.
You'll want to put a ~ in there.
Drop sword ~ lies here, chipped and gore-encrusted.
I mean, it's not necessary, but I always found the "is here" clumsy.

Also, 'help newbie' gives direction to a lot of commonly used syntax.
Be cool to have one of these for ARM commands:
