I can't talk for staff but mundane usually refers to anything non-magic, rather than human. It's also implied by the line "Character cannot be a mul, a half-giant, nor any kind of mage or psionicist.".

Hey so... this was confusing to me, and I thought it might have got some other people as well. In the New and Improved Advanced Start documentation it says:

And everything was cool, until I then looked at the new karma scale and saw that my favorite race was now a karma race (dwarves, because I love to be annoyingly single-minded, just ask my wife).

What's the definition of 'pure mundane' only? Would you accept, for example, an advanced start dwarf, half-elf, or city elf? What about a desert elf? The Advanced Start seems to indicate that you would, except that half-giants and muls are specifically called out. What's the cut-off for races in the advanced start?

Let IC be IC should triumph in all situations. The same things you wanted to ask in an OOC manner can be handled the exact same way in an IC manner.

Say: I propose a duel, right here right now. Both of us will be merciful, combat only. Whoever is knocked out, or flee from this field is subject to the victor's wrath. Keep in mind, I mean removal of a limb, disfigurement, let's get creative, hmm?

On first reading I thought this was unfair and snarky. "Sola Code" isn't the natural alternative to OOC scene-arrangement. These three remain: OOC, roleplay, and code; and in the long run the greatest of these is still roleplay.

But it is fair in this sense: in any given situation, code will always triumph and we haven't been willing to put limits on that. If I PK someone for flimsy, foolish, or purely OOC reasons, I may lose karma, but dead stays dead.
