Tektolnes and Muk Utep are practically never seen by the general populace of their city-states; and by general populace, I mean everyone who isn't an incredibly favored and high-ranked templar.
Being in the same room with a sorcerer-king is just about the highest honor attainable by any denizen of Zalanthas -- even moreso if they're not killed as a direct result of that.

I imagine that a small handful of players has seen the Tektolnes and Muk Utep characters, but it's impossible to say.  The game has been around for a very long time now, and made a switch from H&S to RPI.  If no players saw the NPCs, I'm fairly sure that every new staffer takes a look at Tektolnes, Muk Utep, Luir Dragonsthrall, the Sand Lord and the Dragon within their first day on the job.  They probably also load copies of the characters and kill them for giggles.

As for whether they're being played by staff or by a player -- Tektolnes and Muk Utep are characters that, in addition to having absolutely no reason to interact with any players ever, are also people that are capable of destroying the entire Known World without too much effort.  Players aren't usually allowed to wield that sort of power, and with good reason.

Just imagine what would happen if mansa was to play Tektolnes, and he logged in drunk.  Now imagine mansa playing Tektolnes while sober.

What if at the end of Armageddon one all we see is a big ANSII screen telling us to shop at Wal-Mart?

Because Tek is run by the executive board for Wal-Mart and Muk is really that guy who started Starbucks.

I once escorted Precentor Kul from Tuluk on a mission into the wastes.  Fun.

I watched  XX burninated by a fire elemental.

The ground beneath her feet cracking as it burns with heat, the xxxxx xxxxxxxx figure exclaims, in sirihish:
    "They must suffer for this!"

An intensely hot jet of fire streams from the xxxxx xxxxxxxx's mouth, engulfing the xxxxxx, xxxx-xxxxxx templar and completely incinerating him.

You know you can moderate yourself, right?  Rule of thumb: if you think it might be too sensitive, it probably is.

Thanks for the lesson in protocol, Pops. Before you commented, I was found wanting. Cheers!

I had a kank made of solid steel, and with chromed pincers. I had a krathi put flame decals on him so that he'd go faster, and had these wicked tassels on the saddle.

In the past the staff have said not to write something with a "please remove this post if it's too IC" message.  If you feel the need to add that, you shouldn't post it at all.

Sorry if you feel you're being picked on.  While there is some of IC info in this thread, I don't think any of it is nearly as recent as yours, manonfire.  One RL year old is pretty much the minimum before even thinking of discussing something that happened IG.

Last I heard, the snark only existed in Half-Life.

So stop being so snarky.

You snark.

Death of a templar?  Good book.  Arthur C Miller knew what he was writing about.

I saw a black robed templar, once.

He was naked.

Now that I think about it... how did I know it was a black robed templar?

It boggles the mind.

He's like a time-traveling power ranger, but with more sand in his spandex underwear.

The question brought up by this thread has been answered long ago...basically, "Does it matter?"  This thread has TOTALLY devolved into Idle OOC natter.  Could it be moved or locked as appropriate please?

Well, I guess now that it's been resurrected, it probably does need to be locked.

Actually, the question asked in this thread was answered more fully recently by Vanth.

QuoteThere is no Tektolnes NPC. He's a vNPC. But with the 'end of the world' coming, that may change.

Which is actually very strange. I remember someone mentioning on GDB
(this one or old forums) that their sorc managed to be berated by Tek before dying.

I think I had an experience with one of them.... I was a 'new' player at the time and it made my entire experience with that character odd.
