QuoteBlackwing

These tribal elves tend to wear the sandcloth and leather look, and the females of this tribe wear may well be reckoned some of the sexiest on Zalanthas, particularly the bare midriff blouses and leather thongs many of the women affect. Generally, Blackwing work tends to lack ornamentation, save for embroidered scorpions, anakore, or other deadly desert creatures, except for that sold to outsiders, which does feature some beadwork and embroidery.

Hell yeah, they are.  :P

I'm so excited that people are still taking note.
This was an awesome project to work on, and much credit for the whole thing ultimately goes to Ashyom who worked really hard to get the clothing and furniture items being worked on in game. And for a while southern cothings was being loaded only in Nak and Northern clothing only in Tuluk.

The problem though is that you can lead a horse to water, but you can't stop him from wearing a top hat you see as anachronistic. And part of me really wants to rail against this sort of unwillingness to capitulate to my vision of what should be, but I get that people have visions in their head of how thier pc's look. And the game is more fun if you can use your imagination as a template rather than a doc. So... hopefully people will read the doc and think about how they can use it when planning their wardrobe.

My favorite thing to write up were the various kalasiri. I even like just saying the word.

This has always been one of my favorite docs.  I've read it probably more times than I needed to, because things like the fashion, art, and cuisine of cultures (fictional and otherwise) fascinate me.  I always try to go by this when outfitting my characters.

So, you're the one behind that? WTF is kalasiri? I googled it even, only to get Mona Lisa's picture, but by the item's desc I don't think she's wearing one. Is kalasiri like one of those long chinese dresses?

Kalasiri: A long, one-piece form-fitting dress. Usually either high-necked, or assymetrically-cut, one-sleeved. Anklelength garment. Typically worn by Allanak nobility or upper class.

Life is strange. There is less information on the web now than there was four years ago. A lot of academic webpages devoted to the history of fashion are gone. There were a lot more wonderful images and so forth then. I can link you to pictures of kalasiris but I can't find anything that's calling them kalasiris.

This (http://www.google.com/help/operators.html) might be helpful in the future, but in this case I just searched for "kalasiri dress"

Apparently the ancient Egyptians had really perky breasts:  http://www.nozze-in.com/IMMAGINIVARIE/slideshow_18.html?48  (NSFW?)

Here are some people apparently dressed in Calisaris, which makes a nice change from trying to see what garments looked like by looking at ancient pieces of art.

Just the picture:  http://www.fauser.edu/fau/tessili/foto1.gif

Whole page, bablefish-ed to English: http://babelfish.yahoo.com/translate_url?doit=done&tt=url&intl=1&fr=bf-home&trurl=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.fauser.edu%2Ffau%2Ftessili%2Fcostume.htm&lp=it_en&btnTrUrl=Translate

Usually when I think Allanaki wear I think of the bodycovering robes and headwraps that are common in the Arab world of past and present, and while thinking of Tuluk I think more of the looser and more 'open' clothings of the Egyptians and Persians.

It would be really awesome if the stores in the respective cities showed this more in their wares and even more awesome if players visibly demonstrated this as well.

Won't happen until the relevant clothing all offers +15 to stamina, bonus to outdoor sneak/hide, and is special-order only.

Funny thing. The GDB is where I first got an indication that clothing influences stats.
