This may or may not end up going anywhere, but just because it's fun...let's put together an All-Star team of pcs (over 1 1/2-2 years removed) for various clans/militias/legions/etc.
Each Team needs:
1. An Ultimate Leader
2. Their Second in Command
3. The Driving Money Earner
4. The Ultimate Scheming Bastard/Bitch
5. The Destroyer
6. The Sneak
7. The Spy
8. The Hero
9. The Surprise (this is someone who came from nowhere to do great things)
10. The Honorable Mention
FOR THE FOLLOWING:
Northern Nobles, Militia & Templarate
Southern Nobles, Militia & Templarate
House Kadius
House Kurac
House Salarr
The Byn
The Rinth (non elf)
The Inependant Goon Squad
Desert Elves
City Elves
The Muark

...this has the chance to be either a very interesting retrospective on various clans, or an embarassing and shameful waste of time. :)
ENJOY
My clan's all-star team is all alive and active, so I can't really tell you who they are.
This one could work if my memory was better. I was also aiming for older than two years..
Other:
The Ultimate Leader: Bushman

What are those blanks? If you didn't have anybody to put in them wouldn't that be like top 1-6 anyway?
I'd like to post but considering I have only been playing for about ~2 years I don't really have much to put in.
I don't know who to put in the blanks, well.. I have a few ideas but I think others may do better.
It was so hard to pick just one for any of these positions. As you read off these names, please do so aloud, and pause to make explosion noises with your mouth between each name. Such is the awesomeness of each of the players listed.
My All-Star Kuraci Crew List:
1. SARGAX
2. DOMHALON

What?
No Akasha?
NO SUJAAL?!?!
There's other characters too who's names I can't remember (but could find out if I dug through my logs). That list is a bit on the modern side. ;)
Not the same crew.
I did it by crew not by singles.
I'd do a winrothol too, but I cannot remember everybody...grumbles.
Krath, you got the list from that crew?
I should work up one for Tor...that would have a lot of OLD names.
No, its an all star team...I'd put them up against any team you could pick and choose from Byn past. And easily the most fun Byn crew I've had the privilage to play with.
Well then it's not an All-Star team... it's just a team. :P
Maybe I should work on one for Oash.

Any Byn list without Sujaal is committing some sort of crime.
Fraud, perhaps.
I don't agree. Nothing against Sujaal, but it was a sponsered Role. If he would have worked his way from runner to LT and beyond, he would be on the list probly. But he started as LT...Meh..when you are handed that many advantages to start....No, if I was going to mention Sujaal in an allstar list it would be in one of the northern lists. I don't think he was a good bynner, I do think he was a great northern patriot.

1. Kroz

4. Sujaal
5. Mazzel
6. Din
7. Kazyn

Not that it matters as far as "the list" goes, but this is 100% false.
As the player of Sujaal, I can assure you that he began as a brand new warrior character with no special skills or favors other than what he earned on level ground with anyone else. He began at the rank of Runner like everyone else. He worked his way up to Sergeant like everyone else. And he eventually earned the rank of Lieutennant after almost a RL year within the Byn. He served the Byn for 30 IC years and was directly responsible for the northern T'zai-Byn compound being constructed.
You're certainly entitled to think he was a chump, but please don't spread misinformation.
-LoD
I was going to say, X-D, that I believe one of my first characters served under Sujaal when he was a Sergeant, so that is obviously false and I'm not sure where you'd come up with that. In fact, I'm not sure where you get any of your information and all of your vast "combat experiance", but most of it seems flawed to me, based on your postings since I've been playing.
Yup, I was gonna say that but LoD obviously beat me to the punch.
Shrug, Never said he got any special skills and such,.
And though I had PCs in the Byn at the time, its possible I mis-remember who worked up and who was sponsered...My bad. It has been a while after all.
Though, I still did not like Sujaal as a bynner...just never seemed like one to me.
Like I said, I feel he came into his own after the byn and in the north.
And BTW, I never said in any way that I thought he was a chump.
Defend your PC if you want, but defend on shit I actually say..not what you assume from being butthurt on the deal.

Good list, X-D. Tears was before my time, though. And I have to agree: Fatty was probably the best example of a Bynner I've seen yet.
Only Kurac and the Byn are fielding complete teams.
where are the others?
LoD speaks the truth. I remember playing under Sujaal when he was just a Sergeant. Practically all I remember him as. He was a very serious Sergeant, and seemed proud to be a Bynner. I remember him sitting my n00b warrior down, trying to convince him to stay in the Byn. It worked; he never joined Borsail, and ended up staying with the Byn for life. Sujaal also publically defended the Byn a few times... if somebody bad-mouthed Bynners within earshot of Sujaal, he'd be sure to give 'em an earful. Sujaal was a Bynner through and through, even if he did eventually get coverted into a damn bunny-hugging Tuluki.
I'm surprised Akasha wasn't mentioned in any Byn list. She seemed very popular at the time... made it all the way to LT. If she didn't make it, then I guess a case can't be made for the character I played, Kinneus. Virtually unknown, but he was Akasha's right-hand man, and practically taught her how to emote.
Templar Shome should also be made an honorary Bynner. She lead more Bynners off cliffs than every Sergeant I've ever known combined!
Also, I fully support Shatuka and Pendeh for any Kurac lists.
The Plainsman gets the award for "Best Sorcerer EVAR".
That is all.
I think the fact remains that Sujaal was bar none a fixture of the Byn and one of the most memorable characters in the Byn of all time. To leave him out of an all-stars pick is like picking an Arm o' the Dragon team without Ihsahn Kasix. (hint hint) Akasha should have also been in a Byn list somewhere or other, she was another really good one.

Berlian Lutalo definitely rates a spot in the top ten of the Byn. In my book he's right up there alongside Kroz and Kazyn.. yet they pale to Sujaal.
I'm in agreement with the notion that a single player could fill the ultimate leader category with a few of his characters. You know who you are.
As far as Kurac goes, the yellow mul, Davaz, and naturally Sargax deserve a spot up there in the upper crust. Seriously, dudes.
Vedelarin and Pearl take the pick for the top two in House Borsail, hands down. They left a helluva fierce impact on the game.

The problem with this is that few single players have enough perspective (time in a single clan) to make a comprehensive list. You end up with lists that are, instead, just the crew that one particular person had fun playing with.
Also... how is one to judge which leader was the best? Or who was the best sneak? Or spy? Or how are sneak and spy even different? Do these things go by clan rank achieved? Playtime? Body count?
Sorry, it's just too problematic and/or controversial, so I'm not really going to bother.

I see, so that's how it's gonna be? It's hard to narrow it down to just ten.
Tuluk:
1. Eunoli
2. Mali
3. Sujaal
4. Rothairh
5. Rykon
6. The Ghost of the Gol Krathu
7. couldn't decide, too many to list and too IC

And just to prove a point, here's AoD
1. Ihsahn
2. Sathis
3. who needs money when you're in the AoD?
4. Daejaye
5. Aquilla (she was scary)

Unlike you northies, down here in 'nak we got us a little thing called bribes. Gimme all yer sid.
I'm glad Boopsie made it on someones list.
Kishime was one of my all-time favorites.
I had a habit of calling him "Turtle" when I had my Atrium PC. Never to his face or IC. It was just the first thing that popped into my head when I saw his sdesc.
What's really funny is that #7 even exists as an option on the list. You would think that if they were a successful spy they'd never be put on the list!
I can't categorize them, but I think all of the following deserve heaping amounts of praise:
Digger
Vedelarin
Pearl
Sujaal
Anath
Thorian
Haaruk
Kishime (sp?)
Light Touch
Daejaye
Bela should be on a Bynner list.
She kept me playing this game.

As an aside:
AOD needs some oldschool mention like Garrick or Htanyal, two guys who set the template for the corrupt, angry scheming bastards you'd fear, southerners need to include folks like Lawrence Oash. Over who knows how long some of the names become lost in memory and the characters that were innovative and inventive become a standard with the mud cruising into so many years. Every couple years some super hero sort like Thrain shows up, or some uber baddie like Vis...in new forms, with their new schemes and ideas, but building off the beautiful archtypes that made this game great in the old days and continue that tradition on.
When I say Kithian was the best scheming bastard I ever saw, if you knew him you know there's some truth to it. Or perhaps the fact that someone like Mordaga could keep folks out of the Tablelands simply by fear of the name itself, this is the awesome. Generations come and go in the game, Mordaga gives way to Chrol, and whispers of short descriptions make their way into taverns and drunken conversation at APMs.
Old school merchants before crafting made making money easier like Khann, building an empire off of two kanks and barter. The oral tradition and training regimen of the Kuraci Outriders. The consistency and long life of -several- Kadian pcs who help keep that House running and interesting. (I'll admit it took me nearly a decade to get someone in there).
I've lost touch with many, many old friends over the time since I started playing but have seen the game evolve and change, some for the better, a little for the worse, but it flourishes and continues and is a brilliant little nook in the internet.
If I had the ability to give kudos to everyone I've ever interacted with who I felt made me a better player or more creative mind, I would do so.
For the roleplayers:
From this day to the ending of the world,
But we in it shall be remember'd;
We few, we happy few, we band of brothers;
For he to-day that sheds his blood with me
Shall be my brother; be he ne'er so vile,
This day shall gentle his condition
It's very difficult to choose roles for clans that have had characters consistently populating them for over 10 RL years. I haven't seen any Kurac lists with people like Morcash (the well-fed half elf), but it was his assassination at a Great Merchant House meeting called by the southern templarate that created the foundations for years of gameplay to come. They also don't include Neithan/Daedheldin, who was the original argosy-driving, steel-wielding Kuraci assassin that was the bane of many-a-character.
He happened to be the character that stole my dwarven spice runner's wagon and drove it into the gulch between Luir's and Allanak, where it has remained a fixture for many, many years.
I haven't seen any Guild lists that include its first leader (Arendor/Severin) or one of its first enforcers (Rals). Nor have I seen lists mention characters that greatly engaged many of its denizens in the earlier days such as Dar and Goldy.
I haven't seen Kadian lists include Medichi, who was probably the single most responsible PC for Kadian survival and success in the northlands and for whom Radoon was an employee. Nor have I seen many mentions of Ysania or Eldor, who helped to run Kadius for many years despite their many enemies.
If you mention villains, you need to include characters such as Wolf and Vis of the early Blackmoon, Sunjar the elven assassin, etc..
If we talk about money makers, we need to include Ana and Mackeli of House Kohmar. Few people know all of the founding members of House Kohmar, but I'm fairly certain they were comprised of Ana, Mackeli, Onyxwolf, Deaden, and Larth. This was back in the day where you had a fixed ldesc. Onyxwolf was always "playing with a twig of agafari."
To forget Aryk al'Azia in any list would be a shame simply because he was the driving factor in the total success that was the Gypsies before they settled down. They were a fresh and interesting concept that was both completely new and completely fit within the realm of Armageddon, and he was one of the main reasons it was realized.
While there have been many scary southern templars in Garrick, Houndin, Htanyal, and Ihsahn -- there were also early ones like Faust that used to scare the bejeezus out of me whenever they entered the same room as my character.
We'd also be remiss in not mentioning some of the stronger warriors in the game such as Takryn, Thanos, Gemhdar, and likely several others that I cannot recall.
There are so many wonderful characters that have come and gone through the world of Armageddon, it's difficult to have a true list without mentioning many of them -- but it's definitely fun for threads like these to keep names from the older days fresh on the lips of people who never had the chance to know them.

You mention Takryn, and it makes me think of his wicked lifemate Tasha. She had to have been the reason why the whole "There is no sexism in Armageddon" idea came about. I think I saw a half dozen times personally the seduction of getting into a spar with "the girl" only to have her destroy the burly guy and go back to drinking.
I'll throw Ulathe, Serbitar and Varg as well as some warriors I saw do some fun things when it came to destruction.

Those were good times indeed.

12. The Skull-Laden Dude - Detal Black
Baaaahahaha.
It's true! Dude had skulls on all his shit! I think he even bought one of those skull-embroidered black codpieces from the costume shop. You know how you sometimes see a guy who's got azure doodads on every inventory slot, or is wearing nine different scorpion-embroidered, scorpion-carapace scorpion holders? Well, I seem to remember Detal Black having skulls, like, everywhere. I bet if his player did a >key skull he'd get a whole page of scroll. Skulls, by the way, obviously mean that a guy is totally Bad 2 The Bone.
Detal once lectured Mae on how a good "artist" (Tuluki lingo!) would never wear all black, because it was too obvious. Then he started going around wearing all black. I'm still vaguely confused.
I think that people with massively flowery emotes deserve some recognition.
Anath
Adept
That one guy that hung around the 'rinth and had a thing for his door-creak voice, and penumbral pall.
The crippled Borsail lord.
While I love X-D's byn squad. I think I also must list (which may piss people off but wuteva) Joe's fav Rinth crew of all time:

I
really wish that had lasted longer with the originator than it did.
Zeiri and Door were really mean to Detal, and made up mean songs.
QuoteIn warbling off key, tilting her head back, you sing, in sirihish:
"For all your assassination needs
Find Detal, he aims to please!
But really, he is very gentle
And never, ever, ever, mental."
Gesturing with his small red fruit, the pearl-haired, azure-eyed young man recites, in sirihish:
"Detal, Detal, he's so skilled
Just think of all those guys he killed!
And really, he is very bold:
Some were over ten years old."
Detal. If you're out there. We really did love you.
Detal, if you're out there, you were my first PK.
We enjoyed your skull-laden loot.
I'd like to see Cold on a Guild list.

Oh Sludge.
I'd contend the Hero slot and give that to Hekro, and switch money maker / sneak with Marin and Gin.
LMFAO, LauraMars.
I started playing Arm that summer, right around the same time as Gimfalisette. I had a Kadian in Tuluk under First Hunter Ojun. I'm excited because for once, I recognize some of the name in one of these remember-when threads.
The Golden Summer people may not have been the baddest or the toughest in Zalanthan history, but they were the funnest. If I'm going to pick an all-star cast to play with, I'm going for the fun ones.
Plus us people who started playing after the towers fell need a little love, too. I can't remember jack before Bela and Pearl or so. Sargax? Never heard of him.
The 'rinthi crew list is way too recent..I'd been playing like some are still alive.

I don't think everyone posting here is making sure that characters mentioned are dead.
At the very least, I know for a fact several people mentioned were alive within the past year.
People doing this are probably going to get this thread locked. :(

Agreed. Me too.
And why isn't Serpent mentioned in the rinthi list?
A 'rinthi list without Serpent and Digger is lacking.
I'm limiting it to people I personally played with (while a rinti and not a templar being harbored by them). You can add Serpent to your list. I loved him. But I loved that crew more.

That may be true. they may be alive. I haven't played in almost a year...I was assuming they were all gone by now...but truly I have no idea.. Sorry.
I'm sorry, but there would be no Gin in my 'rinthi list. Dar>Gin.

I offer you Goldy as well.
Yes, I originally had Goldy in there as the plotting bastard :P
Yarg would be a nice enforcer type, but I think some of the others through the ages have surpassed him. But regardless...Dar is in there. He could actually top out most of the slots available. Between him, Silver, and...Lec? I don't remember Silver's lady's name. But between the three of them the bases were covered.

I remember Rals being nasty scary before they adjusted muls to reflect their proper stats...thank -god- he died before that all went down.
And off topic, still southern...how about Breg and Trevelli? I mean we all know how that went down, but those were some "southern" tuffs too.

They were some of the baddest of their time, as far as I know... I was with them for a little while as "the sandy-red mul", named Zolit I think it was, and with them later as other characters too. I'm not sure what happened to them... I think Trevelli's player got in trouble for something and Breg's player took a very long break and never really came back.
Oh, and heh... they were actually northern later on... among other things.
This thread said Battle Royale!... Where's the rumble? I'm going to sue you guys for false advertising.
This thread is skirting -very- close to the edge of revealing too much IC information. I also not a fan of popularity contests. Locking his thread so it doesn't get more out of hand.
