Just wondering, but every time I look at the homepage for the past day or so it's been having "the game has been running for 3 hours" or something very low like that.
So any reason it's been crashing so often?
CRASH!!! DAMNIT!
This is how Armageddon will end... all characters will black out in a fatal crash that lasts forever... :(
I know ... and someone has my guitar now!!!!!!!!!!!!!! >:(

Untrue.
You see a large black form descending from the sky, heading towards Allanak.
You see a large explosion in the south.
Everyone drops dead as Tektolnes defiles the -world- to slay the Dragon.

Armageddon is CLOSED.
Then how are we gonna play Arm again in the future? ::)

Mirror universe. Instead of Tek killing everyone to rid himself of the dragon, he and Muk Utep team up like old pals and sacrifice themselves for the Greater Good. Using the power of teamwork and believing in themselves, they manage to defeat the evil threat. The explosion of love that they use to kill the Dragon covers Zalanthas in life and water, and the desert is no more.
Later, we all gather 'round the campfire and sing Kumbaya.

Look whatever ... so long as magickers all still branch into an insta-kill spell.
Why does the game always seem to crash when you buy something expensive? :'(
I say praise the crashes. Keeps the damn weather at bay.
Like kank flies unto wanton boys, Ginka kills us for its sport. :o

Or when you're handling book objects. Ouch.

Not a problem most of us have, thankfully ;D
But yeah, seems every time the game crashes my character has either just bought something that cleaned out their bank account, or they've given said object to a different character to let them look at it. :'(

My God RGS is right, the longer we go without a good crashing, the more the sandstorms just never seem to end.
You guys are like Goldilocks, I swear.

And then this one time, in sand camp? We were in the dunes and this big wind came and picked us up and blew us into this house, was made all of wood! And there was food all around and the beds were really strange and there were these furry beasts that talked! And we didn't even have any spice, but it was still just right.

I guess I'm missing it.
A brightly painted, blue argosy crashes into a weathered stone wall.
Since the 11th of January, 2006, we've had a very fast memory leak. As of the middle of last week, according to my profiling, this memory-leak has been entirely closed. It was the primary source of mud crashes over the last couple of years.
We should be a lot less crashy. I'll start profiling the weather to see if it is trending badly over the longer uptimes.

Ironically It crashed just now. ;D

No, it didn't. Game has been up and running for over a week.
Must've been a connection burp then.
GG, Morgenes & Xygax, you've just ruined the economy of Armageddon by getting us rid of the constant crashes ;D

Be gentle, it's my first time.
For the record, the crash was not related to my bug fix.
Is the Mud down now, or is it just me?
It's down; it's not just you.

Maybe there's a good OOC thread for playing with smiley-faces? I'm actually watching this thread pretty closely, and it would be nice to have it be not-noisy.

Is the game down currently?
I'm moved in to a new house with a shitty router, that is not letting my use iChat, and may make me unable to play Arm. I can't seem to connect to armageddon.org, which usually is a sign to me that the game is down.
Right now, the game is up and running. Did you try connecting using the IP address?
I'm connecting through: 64.252.79.51:4050
POOP.
Dunno if we crashed or if it was just me ... but I typed saved about 2 seconds before I lost connection. Yay, for once! ;D
Yeah, we're down.
I just lost my connection too. :'(
Well at least I don't have to worry about being link dead in the wilds :P
Aaaaand... I'm back. ;D
Odd ... I logged back in ... and apparently I'm too excited about the crash to leave again just yet!
>:(
I expect we lose people because of how often we crash.

What... is this serious?
The MUD is pretty damn stable most of the time and when it's not the problem is normally soon fixed.
Brandon
Crashing would be discouraging to new players, definitely. Especially those still not sure if they want to invest the time into the game.

It's not -that- bad.
We used to have a -full day- of Saturday maintenance downtime.
A few crashes every few weeks?
Pfft.
It really isn't that bad, but I would not mind at all if the game stopped crashing so often. Within the last few days, maybe weeks, we've been getting one a day at least.
