Check ur rumor boards 4 moar detailz. Shortly. Not yet. Wait for it...
Now this is Sunday. RL Has a knack of popping up even a month in advance!
Wow, one that I can make it too.
Offpeakers are in love with Reiloth. :-*
Quick comment - it is incorrect to use PM (or AM) when suffixing 12, the meaning is completely ambiguous (between midnight, and noon). You are probably referring to noon, however it is mildly unclear and syntactically incorrect.
I don't think so...?
I was always taught:
12:00 PM -- NOON
12:00 AM -- MIDNIGHT
Grabbed from wikipedia: (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/12-hour_clock)
The National Maritime Museum, Greenwich, states:
To avoid confusion, the correct designation for twelve o'clock is 12 noon or 12 midnight. Alternatively, the twenty-four-hour-clock system may be used. The abbreviation a.m. stands for ante-meridiem (before the Sun has crossed the line) and p.m. for post-meridiem (after the Sun has crossed the line). At 12 noon the Sun is at its highest point in the sky and directly over the meridian. It is therefore neither "ante-" nor "post-".[9]

From your source:
QuoteIn the United States, noon is often called "12:00 p.m." and midnight "12:00 a.m." With this convention, thinking of "12" as "0" makes the system logical.
The American Heritage Dictionary of the English Language (Fourth Edition, 2000) has a similar usage note on this topic: "Strictly speaking, 12 a.m. denotes midnight, and 12 p.m. denotes noon, but there is sufficient confusion over these uses to make it advisable to use 12 noon and 12 midnight where clarity is required."
Not everyone is an American. And even in America, use of 12:00 AM (or PM) is confusing enough.

And then there's the whole "twelve in the morning" that totally screws everyone up...
Or you could just do 12 or 24.

Ahem.
12 noon.

I still get confused as shit when 12PM/AM is used....
I just tell people to use "noon" or "midnight".

Since we're getting all technical here, 12 noon is neither A.M. or P.M. only when your sampling window becomes infinitesimally small. By the time you swing that slow meat of yours around to look at the clock, it's P.M.
Calculus = Love/Hate
If I have Real Internets again, I'm down for this.
Y'all been warned.
Bilanthri - If your slow meat is a bit slow, it is indeed 12:00:01 PM (or 12:00:00.001 PM), which is a correctly specified time. If your slow meat is fast, however, you might hit the late 11:59s, and still be in AM.
Various schedules which are posted using the rather archaic 12 hour systems often substitute 11:59AM (or 12:01 PM) for 12:00 ?M.
I will be there. Hopefully.

Yes, yes...my point is simply that you can play the fractional second game ad infinitum...time is analog, while the clock's representation of time is digital. Immediately after the infinitely brief moment at which the sun is in the middle of the sky, it becomes P.M.
It's not really a serious argument, rather an exploration of infinity.
Might show?

Thanks to everyone that came. That was a helluva event to handle, but I think it went well.
Thanks to those who put it on. Lots of fun!

...8 HOURS LATER...
Kudos to the hosts who were probably around hours before it started, and stayed all the way to the end AND had to organize the whole thing and keep track of what was going on and who was doing what to whom and so on and so forth...
Just thinking about all that work gives me a headache. Hats off to all y'all, and thanks for the fun!
Yes, it went well.
Though, maybe next time on the merchants fair, spread that out over a few rooms...THE SPAM!
Thanks to the hosts.
Lots of people came out, was fun!

I had the impression this was the main reason it wasn't as successful as it could have been. It was also very confusing to know what rug belonged to who.
Any other feedback? It's appreciated. Without getting TOO IC of course.
Wasn't there, but kudos to those who took it upon themselves to arrange and host it. I hope you enjoyed it and didn't burn yourselves out.
I get why the host had to use all caps - to make sure no one missed the fact that a lot of what they were saying was "official news"...things people might really want to hear.
However. Maybe, When Time And Patience Permitted, They Could Try Capitalizing Only The First Letter Of Each Word. It Still Captures Attention But Is Less Distracting To Everything Else Going On.
Or even MAYBE just capitalizing ONLY certain WORDS instead of PHRASES that the host wants to emphasize. Like..
WHO WILL DIE! Will it be JIMBOB or SUELLEN? Enquiring minds want to know! BETS HERE!
Or something to that effect. Might be more trouble than it's worth - depends on how fast you can type.
Mostly though I think you all did an awesome job. I know how what a monster it is to coordinate Luir's based events.
Highly enjoyed it. Thanks so much for all the hard work in organizing it!
First time for me and I enjoyed it. Great job to all involved; A+ service!!

Reiloth specifically asked for feedback. If he hadn't asked for it, I wouldn't have posted my suggestion for improvement. I had to actually take time to think of something that could have been improved. And yes, I would complain if the pile of sids I found was too heavy to pick up. That would definitely be complaint-worthy.

The feedback is appreciated. The betting system /Trade Fair will get some love before the next event.
A few things as far as streamlining feedback:
Immside-
Get the stands/pit flagged indoors against the sand.
Announcement object so you don't have to shout in all caps.
Playerside-
Post the betting rules before the competition so its not confusing.

Ginka Sauce wrestling.
I think that platform's still set up in Luir's...
Ew. Use kalan or something. Ginka's much too refined for stinky gypsies (/elves/southerners/northerners/halflings/gith) to be wrestling in.
I didn't mind the ALL CAPS. I mean it was a crowded event. Wouldn't he have needed to shout to make himself heard?
Ginka sauce wrestling platforms already exist.
Blood-colored? Check. Extravagant? Check. Slippery fun? Check.

I personally enjoyed the all caps. I think it made it very clear to see what was going on, and added to how epic it was. Great job on the announcements, they were really entertaining. However, the betting portion confused me a lot. I agree that going over rules at the beginning would have been incredibly helpful. For the fair portion, I agree that more then one room might have been nice. One thing I really liked that a specific group did was to have a person from their group sit on the rug, which was incredibly helpful for figuring out who to talk to for which wares. I also liked that a different group had a different type of rug from all the others. There also seemed to be one or two empt extra rugs in the room, which I think it would have been nice not to have there.
I really enjoyed the event, altogether. It's amazing that you guys put something of this size together, and ran it for that many hours. That's a large time commentment, and kudos for you.
