Title: Sorry, can't think right now, I'm too busy walking.
Post by: John on December 19, 2002, 02:15:35 AM
Well, I'm taking a break from Arm, been playing all day. So all the crazy ideas I've been thinking up now all get posted now.   I've noticed that when I do certain things (e.g. Walk to another room) My emoting gets lagged as well as my thinking, whereas when I do other things (e.g. craft something) it thankfully isn't.

I think emote and think should be exempted from any lag (ESEPCIALLY COMBAT) as it allows people to emote and think more easily.

What does everyone else think?

Agreed, but I don't think its that simple.  As far as I know, you can't just turn lag on and off for certain commands.  Its either there, or it isn't.  At least thats what I'm assuming from observing the code.

Yeah.  Ideally a huge class of commands would go through a different events queue than others:

Things that should go through the delayed queue:
walk, fight (kick, bash, etc), Way, get, put, quit, etc.

Things that shouldn't:
emote, talk, say, think, look, who, score, stat, skills, save, etc.

Look might be debatable...?

No... You couldn't possibly walk and talk at the same time, that includes jaw movement, which is alot like walking and chewing gum.    :)

Thank you thank you, I'll be back next week.
