Title: Weekly Update for April 24th, 2004
Post by: on April 25, 2004, 08:41:16 PM
News
We're still soliciting player histories for the staff documentation. Anything's fair game for a write-up of your character. What do you want remembered about your character? What did s/he do, and who did s/he interact with? What would other members of her/his clan remember, what stories would the grandchildren tell? Write-ups of past clans, including the slew of player-created desert elf tribes, are also quite welcome. Let us immortalize you. Send your emails to sanvean@armageddon.org and zhaira@armageddon.org

We're currently #8 on TopMUDSites - thanks for voting!

When you find one of the NPCs that handles apartments, type "list", and you'll get instructions from there.  There is only one place in game that does this now, but if all goes well it'll be put in other places in the coming weeks.

Would this sort of place only be expected for elementalists to rent from or is everyone open to it?

I'd prefer that they just used for elementalists, but at the moment there is nothing stopping other people from using them.  Just keep in mind this system will likely be set up in other places in coming weeks, and also that there would probably be an in-character stigma related to living among elementalists.

That's a very, very cool addition.

Especially since it will probably give elementalists more of a sense of isolated community while still having a place to call (sort of) their own.

If this works out does that mean there will be no more Nenyuk PCs?

No it doesn't mean that.

There will still be Nenyuk PCs around no matter what happens with this script.

What purpose would the Nenyuki PCs serve?

Not trying to sound snippy, just honestly curious - it seems that their main function is to rent and collect rent for appartments, and with an automated renting script, what would they do with themselves?

Not all apartments will be run via this script.  I'm not going to say how many will be exactly, as that remains to be seen.  But  certainly not all of them.

They do other things and rent more than just apartments. It'd be bothersome to see a scripted NPC outside of each and every house that you can rent.
