Hi

This one time, I played a guy named Paryl. Then I wasn't here for a while.

Anyway, I was thinking about Arm for some reason and thought I'd pop back around to say hello, which is what this post is, was, and has been.

Hi. Paryl is oddly familiar, but it feels like it's been many years since I heard a name like that. Many PCs ago for me.

Are you playing again? Are you going to, or are you now? I hope so. I'm sure you'd be welcomed back IG as well as on the GDB.

Paryl was so mean to my rinther! It was awesome.
Varak:You tell the mangy, pointy-eared gortok, in sirihish: "What, girl? You say the sorceror-king has fallen down the well?"
Ghardoan:A pitiful voice rises from the well below, "I've fallen and I can't get up..."

He wasn't very significant; it's cool.

I don't know if I'm going to play or not. Maybe! I'd probably just get killed for my boots over and over again, leading to a destabilization of the local and then global cobblering industry.

Awww yes!!!!!!!!!!

Had some really great RP with you back in 2006-7 in the AOD. That group of people totally got me into the game.
Glad to see you're back.

there's a neat picture of this guy by Biscuits in original submissions

All the world will be your enemy. When they catch you, they will kill you. But first they must catch you; digger, listener, runner, Prince with the swift warning. Be cunning, and full of tricks, and your people will never be destroyed.

The only metal weapon I've ever seen in-game was owned(lended to?) by Paryl. There was also another weapon(if I'm remembering correctly), but It was so awesome I can't even talk about it.

Hi. You're awesome.

Oh shit, now I realize where I read Paryl from, that picture! That picture is EASILY one of my favorites. Bravo just for that, and now I realize you seriously pre-date me. :)

Lended to, probably. Paryl never owned a metal weapon, though he did have some really baller hats and also a steel shield.

Yeah, I think Samos let you use it for the Gith Wars. I don't think I ever got to see it used though. Such a shame.

I honestly don't remember a metal sword - Paryl had a collection of really sweet non-metal weapons. I think he owned probably every dragon-themed weapon in the database.

The shield, I think maybe two other PCs ever knew about.

Could easily be mis-remembering. It was  like... seven years ago.

Jesus that feels so weird to say. I can't believe how long I've been playing this game. Especially considering I feel like I'm only just recently "getting it".

Hm.. I was definitely playing the game seven years ago, but almost entirely out of Tuluk. Interesting.

I remember Paryl because I was the poor bastard whose feet filled those lofty shoes. Despite all the achievements I gained, I never had 'sweet hat' status, and thus my PC was relatively lost to time.

Hi! You're awesome and you should come back.

You saw this thread already, right?

I'm sorry I wasn't Paryl-level awesome for you, ale_six. :(

I was just thinking about Paryl the other day, and throwing shit at him and screaming at his face and trying to steal his hats and threatening to kill him with my brain and all

sigh, i miss paryl :(

You were definitely my favorite character from among those who ever tried to kill Paryl with her brain.

I'm thinking about playing but it's daunting - I don't even remember the emote system. How many boots must I sacrifice in order to learn to play again?

Hey, you. Willowy. The first person to inspire (by which I mean "scare") me when I was a very new, very terrible player.

I think you should play.

New player here, you're my hero, please play.

I tripped and Fale down my stairs. Drink milk and you'll grow Uaptal. I know this guy from the state of Tenneshi. This house will go up Borsail tomorrow. I gave my book to him Nenyuk it back again. I hired this guy golfing to Kadius around for a while.

I was always so bummed you never brought that shield out.

Hmm. I remember playing some kid-AODer once who rode Paryls purple kank off the shield wall and killed it during the mul outpost raid, and then somehow was awarded  medal for bravery...

Sorry about that bro. I'd buy you a new one, but....

Paryl and I fought each other in the arena of Allanak twice.

The first time he won.

The second time I won.

Good times.

I'd recommend gathering up those logs if you have them (the fights + the kank).  They'd be cool to add to the original submissions page.

I'm afraid I don't have them. Cale might? (I'm the worst about forgetting to start logging things when things start happening. I wish my client would just auto-log every session.)

Most clients have options to allow for this, actually. You may want to dig around.

Sadly, there was a breakdown in the line of succession from one computer to the next a few years ago and I lost all my logs (not that I was super great about making them in the first place).

The only one that was of any particularly great note was the one where I got the steel shield. That one was really cool.

Hi Cale_Knight.

I remember convincing Samos not to cut Paryl and Laila's heads off over some silly kankshit. Wish I still had those logs.

You should play again.

There was definitely a sword, though I'm not sure Samos actually ever got around to giving it you. For the record, it was much cooler than the shield.
