As a stay-at-home mom, I'd like to mention that swaddling only works for very young babies unless you tie them into their blankets. By about 1 month, they can get out of most swaddles.

Also, babies are fairly regular because breastmilk is a super-food. If you only breastfeed, they typically have predictably timed [within reason], low-odor waste.

From birth - 5 months, she peed a nearly odorless liquid all the time (wet diaper every 2 hrs), but her bowel movements (which only smelled like vinegar and cheese unless she got sick) were every 3 - 4 days on average. Apparently , that's normal, according to several different doctors. I know this because I freaked and thought she was constipated. (Obviously, that's why she's crying! Right? No. She's just a baby. They don't poop much, but they never shut up >_>)

Now, at 6 and 7 months, she has a bowel movement every day in the morning and her urine smells like urine, but we've also started giving her solid food.

When you're with your kids 24/7 you learn how to communicate with your them and you watch for different signals. You definitely catch on, eventually. I let her be naked at home a lot, and honestly, it's not that hard to keep track of. I just leave on something I don't mind washing.

Though, now that she's started crawling, she has a diaper on all the time. But note, this is because I am a lazy American and have that luxury.

Concerning colour, it depends on what you [the mother] eats and what you feed them. Yeah, if you feed them green food (spinach, for instance, or broccoli), their poo will be green. In my experience, the colour range is actually more yellow - orange - light brown.

So there you have it. I know much about babies (and thus, their poo) because when you have one, people force feed you information.

Hope this helps :)
