The game is in the process of rebooting right now.

Arm is like a boomer from Left For Dead, all big and fat, and they are gonna pop him with a big needle and he goes boom and makes bile go everywhere, then we all smile and cheer and go back into Armageddon! Yay!
:)
The Devil doesn't dawdle.

Reboots are a necessary evil, we need to do them when we want to make certain types of changes go live.

Be glad we don't take the whole Saturday to do that, as we used to.  Be glad we're still trying to make changes and make things better.

On the subject of Saturday down time...

I kind of miss those days. It was like opening a present every Saturday when the mud opened back up for mere mortals. There was always something new, and we never knew what it was going to be.

Someone out there is thinking the mud needed rebooting due to their mudsex.

Saturday downtime were days of sadness.
I tripped and Fale down my stairs. Drink milk and you'll grow Uaptal. I know this guy from the state of Tenneshi. This house will go up Borsail tomorrow. I gave my book to him Nenyuk it back again. I hired this guy golfing to Kadius around for a while.

Saturday downtime were days of sadness.

Saturday downtimes were a healthy break from the game. You weren't missing anything in game, and you had no option of slacking off from what you could be doing that day (at least, not by playing Armageddon).

Saturday downtimes sucked for people who can only play on Saturday and Sunday.   :(

If you're that busy, should you really be spending the day playing a game? Go DO something.

In my heretical opinion.

Most Saturdays I go over to my friend's house and drink, watch Hell's Kitchen with him and his girlfriend, and go on random adventures.  Some weeks though (like this week) I just need to zombie (yes, I used zombie as a verb).

I think that taking a break for a day is a good thing, but I don't think it should be forced upon you.  Most people should have that kind of self-control.

I will be optimistically skeptical about this new area. If it's anything like the lounge in SoI I'll be more optimistic; I think they did a great job at finding a way to help new players without it reeking of "newbie school."

It's not like the lounge in SoI.   As I posted it's not perfect and it's been a group effort, so I can't even say that it's to my vision.  It's a work in progress, so if you remain skeptical, then you won't get too disappointed.

I haven't seen it yet (obviously), but kudos to you guys for all the work.  I'm especially excited about the starter shops.

Armageddon is full... of AWESOME.

Even if this idea needs some tweaking down the line, this is fantastic and will really help new players, I hope.

I saw this idea implemented on another game to inordinate success.  It's incredibly useful in avoiding that awkward time where you dash around all over to the cities' shops ignoring all RP.

I just have this to say:

You are FULLY AWESOME.

Remember that.
Child, child, if you come to this doomed house, what is to save you?

A voice whispers, "Read the tales upon the walls."

Especially because new players won't go :

-> I can't find a sword, screw this
-> I can't talk to anyone, screw this
-> I can't see a thing, screw this

(There should be a little blurb about darkness and storms obscuring vision, and that one can type 'exits' or wait it out til dawn, checking 'time'. )

Modern concepts of fair trials and justice are simply nonexistent in Zalanthas. If you are accused, you are guilty until someone important decides you might be useful. It doesn't really matter if you did it or not.

Man, I really fucking love that I won't have to run around with my new character to buy non-newbie equipment anymore. Awesome.

Yeah, I like the idea of getting my newbie shopping out of the way before I enter the game.

Okay, fine, great, swell, but now how will my fully-branched lightning elementalists masquerade as newbie salt foragers?  It's like there was no thought taken for the ruination of an old dishonorable Armageddon tradition.

But no, I'm not going to suicide just to test this out. :p

Yes. Read the thread if you want, or skip to page 7 and be dismissive.
