The Creative Feels Workshop

Was looking through old posts to better understand how to use feel.

This post was great.
Nothing to see here

I found this one in an old log recently.  And chuckled.

You feel that elves are the great joke played upon the Known World.  Only slightly after tregils.

Rairen, what would we do without you?

Heh, aside from everything else that's been detailed in this thread, I use it mostly as a bit of OOC communication. Sometimes as a hidden, hidden emote. Or even a precursor to a hemote.

You feel like throwing up.
> hemote looks queasy.

You feel that you should peek under her skirt while she's unconscious.

You feel the urge to roll your eyes.

You feel like rolling on the floor, laughing.
(a response to a particular 'bug')

Clans can give stat bonuses and penalties, too. The Byn drop in wisdom is particularly notorious.

Quote from: VanthSynthesis, you scare me a little bit.

You feel bored.
You feel bored, like slowly growing fungus.

Child, child, if you come to this doomed house, what is to save you?

think My emotions are shallow and two-dimensional, its not worth the trouble to even feel them most of the time.

I just found this thread and it was really helpful! I thought feels could only be one-word, for some reason...

feel a wave of euphoria slowly rolling in
think Oh my god, this feels /amazing/! I can't wait to see what everything feels like!

Thank you, everyone who contributed to this thread. I just wish I had found it sooner *sticks tongue out playfully in a manner that in no way resembles the ill-looking auto-smiley*

Don't forget that you can do:

>think (feeling) Thoughts.

>feel dead inside

Do you guys use second-person or third-person in your feels?

Yes.

Really, it's up to you. Do what feels good. *snicker*

I'm gonna go all Gimfalisette on you guys and lay down some numbers.

You feel your power growing... You are invincible!

Right after branching a new spell.

feel like you're really fucking hilarious

feel like you aim to misbehave

feel like this is serious business

I may or may not have done variations on each of those recently in game.

Ah well you should just kill those PCs. They're not worth the time of plotting creatively against.

I do third person feels.
"You will have useful work: the destruction of evil men. What work could be more useful? This is Beyond; you will find that your work is never done -- So therefore you may never know a life of peace."

~Jack Vance~

I tend to do second person because I find the syntax shift that comes with using third to be jarring.

I do third person feels because I also do third person emotes.

I do first-person feels.

feel like I am a badass

^ Actually I do this. But I really do think it's just up to the player.

Second person for me... I like it to be consistent

feel like you are awesome!
You feel like you are awesome!

And if I knew how to quote right I'd agree with BadSkeelz

that little hash symbol is code, so it makes it look like this

feel like bright text is blinding.
You feel like bright text is blinding.

I have been mostly 2nd person. But now that I read the posts above I will try for 3rd person, for the sake of any potential viewers.
Useful tips: Commands |  |Storytelling:  1  2

I like to keep my feels simpler.

feel angry
You feel angry

feel like smashing something, violently.
You feel like smashing something, violently.

feel completely fucking awesome
You feel completely fucking awesome.

Third, first, second. Don't even include yourself in the feel, you don't need to. You can, if you want to, but it's unnecessary.

I use feels clumsily, often instead of thinks, because it feels better. For some reason I have used first person. What I really want is the internal emote and then  I can just let it come. Is the internal emote idea dead?

Quote from: Rairen on September 02, 2008, 04:48:34 PM
An off-shoot of thought feels:  Conversations.  (aka, the voice of reality for whatever my character is trying to persuade herself into.)

You think, "No, I can do this.  All I need to do is approach the hot ranger and asking for his name."

You feel that if it were REALLY that easy, you still wouldn't be standing here in a storm pretending to rub sand out of your eyes because you don't want him to notice you're staring.

You think, "... Traitor."

You feel irritated.

And, ah, grammatical corrections.

You feel wholly inevitable.

You feel holy inenviable.

You feel neither holy nor inevitable, except in that you inevitably can't be enviable.

^-- Happens embarrassingly often.

Why is Rairen my spirit animal? We're like, the exact same person. It creeps me out sometimes, while simultaneously giving me a bit of pride and ego, tee hee.

I do the latter so much. Whoops.
