How do you envision Tuluk?

How do you envision Tuluk and its...environs? With all the baobaob and red dirt around, I tend to imagine it as resembling some sort of ancient african city. Thoughts on this? Basically how would you compare Tuluk to RL in terms of geography, culture, architecture, etc; etc;

This is a nice picture of Tuluk's buildings from a distance. Tuluk has more trees and flora than other regions and because of the local western forest, more wooden structures as well.

Tuluki culture is one of the aspects of the game I really like, and it's often easily misunderstood.  As for real life counterparts it's hard for me to draw direct comparisons, but eastern and central asian cultures like China and India would be the closest examples I could think of.

Another decent example would be Ba Sing Se from the show Avatar: the last Airbender. 

I think for the physical descriptions and geography the previous posters nailed it on the head.  I imagine it as well like African scrub plains.  The flora overall is not green at all, but shades of browns and greys and still very dusty.



Tuluk is a place where the people are divided among different castes, but they interact with each other on a regular basis because their is no fear of becoming too close to one another as tradition dictates such things do not occur.  It would not be uncommon to see a noble and a commoner sitting together at a bar socializing and generally commoners are more used to interacting directly with the nobility and the templarate.

Needless to say however Tuluk is not without its dangers.  In public people tend to be polite and cordial to one another which hides the general paranoia that exists among the Tuluki populace.  Disappearances happen regularly, and there is a thriving assassination trade.  You might never know you insulted someone until there is a dagger stuck in your back.  Tulukis hide their dirty side with the stereotypical bunny-hugging facade.

It was, honestly, not a trolling post. I like Tuluk and play there occasionally. Actually more than in Allanak. I guess I shouldn't try to be funny.

This may just be a symptom of my general fondness for Morocco, but I've always pictured Tuluk as being much more like Fez than Cairo.

In Tuluk, there -is- -no- Elven Market, this is according to the Staff themselves, BTW...

There most especially is not one that looks the way the picture you were referring to does.

If a large open plaza of an Elven Market -was- within Tuluk it would most certainly not be an In Character secret.

I'm sorry if I'm being a dick about this, it's just that I was having some conversations with various staff of the past few months about why it is totally fucked up that there ARE NOT any Elven areas within Tuluk when a full THIRD of the population is Elven.  It is something that bothers me greatly, and I really wish there WERE an Elven market or a place where Elves were the dominate presence, but there isn't.  And until just the other day I was told there was no way that this aspect of the game would ever be fleshed out.  Now there is hope.  Rejoice.
