QuoteI'm looking to recruit some slaves for House Lyksae in Tuluk.  Slaves would be a part of the Lyksae Warriors, and would have a variety of duties from internal House security to patrolling the Gol Krathu region to assisting the Tuluki Legions when asked.

A Lyksae slave is born and indoctrinated within the House and works their whole life alongside nobles and commoners.  Lyksae slaves are often humans or dwarves, occasionally half-elves, and very rarely, elves or half-giants.  Muls are also fairly rare as they are produced by House Winrothol unlike other Lyksae slaves.

To apply please send a rough draft of a character concept to tuluki_nobles@armageddon.org or if you would like more information or access to clan docs please send a query to that address.  Please be sure to include your account name in all emails, and put [Lyksae] in the subject line.

Just posting this here because we'd definitely love some more players in Lyksae in this role.
It's challenging and fun, and usually, there's a niche for a wide variety of concepts, not all of which are entirely combat-based.
It is recommended that you be familiarized with the Tuluki documentation before applying for such a role.

I have a concept which intrigues me, but I'd need an ironclad assurance that a slave role wouldn't devolve into me sitting around the compound/city doing nothing until one or two overly important PCs logged one.

Everybody makes typos.

I can chime in to say slaves in general aren't restricted to their compound, but to the city at large. You may not see a slave often travel to like...The Sanctuary. But i'm pretty sure they aren't on -that- tight of a leash, unless its a specific role like 'scribe slave'. Hell, in Lyksae, I think slaves are trained and encouraged to come on mounted patrols outside of the city.

Most Lyksae Warriors are legally slaves, but the house is much more tribal than any other noble house in Zalanthas and sees things in different terms. For the specifics, find out IC. But yes, I guarantee that a Lyksae Warrior slave PC will not be restricted to compound- or tavern-sitting when no one else is online. Lyksae Warrior slaves probably have even more freedom, in playability terms, than most clanned commoners do.

100% guaranteed. You won't be restricted to the compound, or even the city. This is probably the most unusual 'slave' role I've ever seen. It will take you a while to get used to it, but its probably the coolest role I've had the privilage of playing.

I will say that this clan is documentation intensive, and has developed a very unique flavor in Tuluk. As jstorrie mentioned, it is much more of a tribal role than a standard Tuluki role.

Need to add that, per documentation for the clan (as it was mentioned otherwise in the original post), elves and half-giants would not be Lyksaen Warriors.

This is a really great clan with some really great players, and will be totally worth it.  Get those apps in!

BUMP

If you don't like playing those nasty d-elves, you can always play a Lyksaen Warrior.  PM me for details, or if you have questions and such!

You'd be an idiot not to apply for this.

..For real, if you want a different look at Tuluk, consider this role.

If you are too lazy to look at the rest of this thread, you should be aware that this is not a typical 'slave' role.

Slaves in Lyksae are family. Slaves elsewhere are 'property' sold for coin.

Prepare for inherent trust, almost complete freedom of movement, etc.

Considering this is a sponsored clan role, shouldn't it be advertised by the sponsored clan imm? I'm sure there are LOTS of clans that would love to have people in them, but we all have to go through the usual channels. Lyksae isn't a desert elf tribe, or a non-city tribe. The Byn isn't allowed to recruit on the GDB. Kadius isn't allowed to recruit on the GDB. Winrothol isn't allowed to recruit on the GDB. Shit, even the Tan Muark isn't allowed to do their own recruiting. It's a sponsored role ONLY for the staff to advertise, if and when they feel the clan needs it.

Why is it that a "family member" of a noble house gets to be advertised by other players?

IT is being advertised in Staff Anouncements.

For the rest of you, this is the best sponsored role I have ever been in.  It had the most support, the best players, and it just left me without socks on multiple occasions.

You find a rusty, armed landmine and pick it up.

Why is it that you can't just let people have a discussion about a role?

That's all that's going on here. The call for a role is located in the staff anouncements forum. Someone bumped this older thread to continue discussions about how the role has been played before, as well as what it can offer to Tuluk and current players.

Big. Fucking. Deal.

Also, I'd point out at this juncture that Lyksae -is- a tribal based family role.

So SLK fan bois = Lyksae Fan Bois.

Yes, it's a Noble House. Yes it's a family too.

So Lyksae isn't allowed to hire/recruit/partisain commoners?
This would be my assumtion since other clans who can hire IG aren't allowed PC slaves.

Last I knew, they could.

Tor had PC slaves (sponsored role) in the past, still might.  Borsail as well. The Byn has sponsored mul slaves.  There are probably other examples.

Yeep.

Regardless of bitchery, it's still an awesome pair of roles. Pass up at your own risk.

From my observations, they can have partisans, but not to the extent other noble Houses can. Like only UBER trusted partisans get estate access. Meaning Lyksae partisanship doesn't include the usual training/stables/food/water that everyone else MIGHT give them.

They also can't recruit any guard/House PCs IG. All v/NPC/sponsored like the link is asking for.

I love the players of this game.
That's not a random thought either.

Sorry, I didn't see the Staff announcement. I have this forum bookmarked to show me all the "newest" topics..and the staff announcement was WAY down at the bottom of the list. This thread was at the top. I thought it was a player recruiting for a noble family (albeit slave) role. Today's first post didn't have a link to the staff announcement originally and did read like a recruitment post. I see it's been edited since.

My apologies.

You may as well all be polite. Whether you agree or not, it's a staff-sponsored role. I personally think it's a good chance to try something interesting if you're not in a role already.

I wish we could multiplay.  :-\

Lyksae is an amazing clan with some of the best documentation in the game as well as some of the highest-caliber RP I've ever encountered.

I won't butter anyone's butts, though--if accepted for this role, you will be expected to play by the documentation and to play well. Due to the way the clan works, there's very little room for playing the exception to the rule in Lyksae. It will challenge you in a way other sponsored roles can't.

Seriously, though--this clan is fantastic and anyone who gets these roles is very, very lucky, because they'll get access to a layer of plots and intrigue that most Tuluki players don't even know exists, let alone get to take part in.

Rogert that.

Lyksae has been quiet it seems for awhile, but before that I was always content running into one or more of their players and doing pretty much anything I could find to reasonably role play out. But I do know...

Lyskae is what the players make it. It is NOT your typical house, and it has very unique features and a well thought out history to make it very fun. Recommended.

Also not true. I have seen Winrothol PC slaves in the past.

Respect. Responsibility. Compassion.

It's unique in its place in Tuluk, and among noble Houses in general. Worth trying, for sure.

Quote from: Warriors of Faith: Part III..."Mtakr?" Samil called to the leader of the Lyksaen warriors who looked back directly at him in response. "Take him down." Samil ordered, and the captain of the elite warriors nodded indifferently. Turning to his group he quickly snapped his orders and the twenty men clad in crimson and grey kicked their mounts into a charge down the hill. Samil's lips broke into a smile as he watched the Lyksaen warriors charging fearlessly toward the mage, the abomination of the nature.

They fired their arrows on the run without slowing down. It was display of skill and accuracy as the arrows flew up into the crimson skies and rained down without any of them going astray...

I love the portrayal of the Lyksaen Warriors in those stories in the original submissions. Love it. I would app for one if I could.
