Could anyone be so kind as to tell me why it is that bash doesnt work on NPCs?  They remain standing even after a success, if anyone does not know.

Conundrum!

Thank you!

It works on NPCs.

The "remains standing after a bash" seems to be a feature that occurs at high levels of success at bashing, which allows you to repeatedly bash something without having to wait for it to stand back up.  Admittedly, it's not very useful against NPCs, as they don't suffer from command delay, but against PCs, it's similar to the new "reel" code, allowing you to "bash lock" someone to prevent them from fleeing, etc.

The only time I've ever had this happen to me is with half-giants, and I imagined it to be something like the half-giant completely mauling the target with overwhelming size and strength.

But who knows, maybe it's a bug after all?

I think NPCs stand back up again once you hit them in combat.
