Proposal for a 'dieroll' command

Let's say someone has decided to roleplay a narcoleptic half-giant. She wants to play it truely randomly, so every now and then she performs a random test to see if he suddenly falls asleep.

Other examples of instances in which being able to make a random test can easily be derived as well.

This could be assisted by an OOC 'dieroll' command in the game, the result of which is only visible to the player that used it.

For example, 'dieroll 12' would randomly generate a number from 1 to 12.

Yes, you could argue that people can just use real dice if they're keen on this. But you don't necessarily have access to dice wherever you go, and the click of dice being rolled in some places would be out of place.

Dice progs can be easiely found. Even ones that are browser based.

A quick google pulled up http://www.irony.com/igroll.html

Althought nothing else seems to be browser based I'm sure you could find something else as well.

I really don't see any need to have this sort of thing coded, and if someone decided that it would be worthwhile to go in, I'd still give it no priority over anything else.

It seems pretty easy to imp in general, but it does cater to the
lazy bastards to code this.  I had a mindbender once some time
past who I would roll a die for, and on a certain point, the bender
would hear voices and go off acting paranoid as a mofo.

Was fun, but you gotta really be willing to put your character in
a bad spot to do it, else when it really counts you won't act up.

I doubt the code would take anymore than ten or fifteen minutes to tuck in, so I can dig it.

However, it's not something we -need-. It's a luxury.

I like the idea. Yes, it's not necessary. But it would be a nice thing to have.
