ranger's fighting warriors

Quote from: "Agent_137"i was mostly concerned about how many days it takes an X to beat a Y at Z days.

I know there are tons of variables, but it's still something that's impossible not to judge a little on.

Days played mean very little.  10, 20, 30 days -- they mean different levels of progression and ability to everyone.  Some people may not touch their skills for a good portion of the time, choosing instead to work up relationships and flesh out the character before beginning their journey while others choose to work in reverse and feel they can't RP without the skills to back it up.

Your environment, independance and role restrictions will play a large role in what and how often you practice your skills.  For example:

 Independant ranger, Byn warrior, 'rinthi assassin.

 Independant assassin, Byn ranger, 'rinthi warrior.

 Independant warrior, Byn assassin, 'rinthi ranger.

After 10 days played, each warrior, ranger and assassin will probably be at a different level of ability due to the different environments, roles and freedom allowed.  These factors all serve to govern and shape your character over time.  The belief that a 10 day warrior is the same across the board just isn't going to be the case.

Days played will never be a good meter of one's ability, which is one of the best things about Armageddon IMHO.  Sorry for the derail.

On topic: Rangers are fine.

Quote from: "Cale_Knight"It does, but the point is that if you work at it, you can create a ranger who will be able to brutally whip the ass of 90% of the warrior PCs in the game, even in melee combat, despite what the help file says about their melee abilities.
And if you work at it you can create a warrior that will whip the ass of 100% of the rangers in game.

Working at it is the key.

Yep.

Keep in mind those rangers have to be 3-4 times as advanced as a warrior to do said asswhooping as well.

Their greatest strengths lie in things far removed from toe-to-toe melee.

I'm going to call this one asked and answered.
