I don't think I understand the new look emotes.

Does it mean I can't

look green with her hands clasped in her lap.

?

Look emotes are now handled just like any other command emote.

>look green (with her hands clasped in her lap)

And if you want it to work exactly as before, you'll want to use [] to specify a post emote, so your example would be:

Incidentally, the new "help emoting" file indicates that we can do "his/hers" stuff when we can't.

Likewise, precede a keyword with a !, ^, or # to substitute the gendered objective (him/her), possessive (his/hers) pronouns, and the nomitive pronoun (he/she) respectively. In tabular form:

I think it might just be a typo in the helpfile. (his/hers) should be (his/her), but still calls attention to the fact that we can't get (his/hers) at all currently.

Morgenes, baby, can you help us out?

It is a typo in the helpfile...I've dutifully removed it.  

I do hear the call for the functionality, I'll look at it.

Guess I'll just be using semote all the time to be safe.

I wouldn't suggest this course, if you're not sure, use emote.  Semote should only be for purely silent actions.

I just have to say, being a person playing a character that is
hidden or invisible from time to time, I gobbled up using semote
very quick. I've made fairly good use of it already.

I just saw people using hemotes...it was great.  I can't wait to see a form of thieves' cant come about all through hemotes.
