Posting here won't do any good. And what does this have to do with the game?

Au contraire, mon frere. Posting here does lots of good. An anonymous post is an excellent and harmless way to blow off steam (and sure saves on the drywall repairs from holes punched in walls or the long distance charges to phone your therapist in Katmandu or what have you).

Someday you'll have an even bigger and better character.

Trust me.

I disagree. My characters have gotten successively smaller and more mediocre since The Favourite.

Hmm, to make this thread more valuable, would you fella's mind sharing exactly what makes your favorite character your favorite? All I can say with my favorite one so far is that he had some pretty awesome players to hang out with, and so learned alot of interesting things.

I've never really had a favorite. I tended to have the best time when I was playing with a certain group who don't play the game anymore.
"A man's reputation is what other people think of him; his character is what he really is."

It was the PC that I didn't have to question how to play them, it all just flowed like a really good tune. She was the biggest and baddest pc I ever had, she had spunky! I miss you ********! She made me dream of Armageddon while I was at work, you know the type.

I think a lot of what makes a character The Favourite has to do with what happens to it. Looking back on my characters, it seems that those who had really messed up, interesting, good or bad experiences have consistently felt like The Favourite. Usually if these things happen early on in your playtime it can force you into your character's headspace and really get you excited.

A concept that somehow clicks with your own personality-type also helps a great deal. This is not to say they need to be anything like you at all, but if they however take a tiny aspect of your behavior and expound upon it they can really turn into something truly addictive to play.

You realize if you're male, male hanging victims look like they just took viagra?

Wouldn't that be embarassing...hah.
Just make another character and go on a PKing frenzy ;).

Oh no, I've lost way too many characters to crazy psycopaths.

Since I have had only a few PCs, my favorite was just a last PC ago, but my current has had some really fun times in different ways then my other, but I have never felt like I really got IC with her.

got to love an elf that last 6 days and already has almost perfect parry and craft. damn templars
dd my msn if you want, longvaladrien@hotmail.com

It's only perfect because your not fighting anyone good.

Now, on to the suicide note.
Don't hang yourself from a fan. It hurts when the fan falls out of the roof.
Don't hang yourself in a bathtub. You'll be made fun of in Armageddon (I meant hell).
Don't hang yourself. Life is precious on Armageddon, sell yourself as a slave to make your life more interesting then make a multi million dollar selling book about being a slave.
Suck it up and get a bitch to slap, or as some call a "girlfriend."
Let her wake up and hit you on the arm til you get a bruise. Though this may take a while.
Have sex at Wal Mart and.. at your parent's house.

Then play another PC.

Or you could just play another PC.

Favorite PCs are good and all.  But if you are not going to make another PC and try to beat that favorite one, what is the meaning of life anyway?

So, listen to M42or54.  Nice advices they are.

Unless you're doing the beating up for rp purposes. Stay away from focusing on pking though. There's plenty of other muds for that.

That is a redundant post.
Stupid fellow PCs? Every PC is stupid. They'll stand there and not draw their weapons when being cut to ribbons by a pick-pocket twink.

Heh, what the hell are you talking about?
"A man's reputation is what other people think of him; his character is what he really is."

He complains about stupid Pcs, then says he wants to make a psychopatch killer.

Then I pointed out that all PCs are stupid, in one way or another, or they go linkdead.

Yeah, some are, but there are plenty of seasoned players that know what they are doing.

RM has a point. What are you talking about?

QuoteThen I pointed out that all PCs are stupid, in one way or another, or they go linkdead.

Again, what the hell are you trying to say?

Back to the first derailment...

My favorite PC accomplished his goals (more or less), hung out with a lot of cool cats, was caught up in a few plots (including one that brought about his demise), and most importantly, was at a time in my life when I played about an average of five hours a day.

I think that the time investment was what -really- made the rest of it possible.

Morrolan
"I have seen him show most of the attributes one expects of a noble: courtesy, kindness, and honor.  I would also say he is one of the most bloodthirsty bastards I have ever met."

Well, there are several ways one can deal with their favorite PC dieing.  Unfortunately, hanging yourself is not a sane or proper way to deal with it.  I myself like to take a LONG nap.  Through the years, I've learned that the worst time for me after the death of my PC is right after it happens until about 24-72 hours later.  Just take a nap and TRY think things out logically when awake.  What does this ussually do for me?  It gives me some good ideas for my next character ussually.  Now, if you really want to act crazy, invite all of your friends over and have a funeral in your backyard for your character, no use hanging yourself.
dropped everything and held my breath. This could not be happening. This was not my life. I began panting, all alone in a locked cubicle in a half-decent restaurant in France with a dead tapeworm hanging out my ass.

The worst PC death I've experienced was not my own character, but his significant other.  I can cope with my own character's deaths, but something about other characters I really love dying makes me sad, like something is missing in Armageddon now, where I can just make a new PC.

Dying is dying.  Good death is when you get to emote or if not, you understand why you are being killed.

Bad death - when you have no idea why or what.

While I used to get OOCly peeved when I would get killed - wham bam, I've done it enough now as well to understand sometimes things move fast and you don't know everything.

Also - loosing character after character helps harden that little soft spot in your heart, doesn't it?  :-D

I just realised what a bitch it would be to try and carry out a funeral in your backyard without dropping IC info.

I think the easiest characters are the ones you can see eye to eye with about something. I had a character recently that would be in my top 5 because I at some point thought like he did and so it was really easy and it seemed like a natural flow and the easiest thing in the world to go with his frequently changing moods. Right after I went to a character that I didn't see eye to eye with at all and I found it really hard to figure out how he'd think, and how he'd act so my emoting started slipping and I felt like a noob and it wasn't a very enjoyable experience 'cause I was constantly on edge.

In the future, I'm making my characters more like me! :D

*edit* Baaah! That was a cool-looking grave stone picture up there with enigmatic information on it about the name, time of birth/ death, and wether or not they were actually dead. *sigh*

The worst death I've ever had was sort of a series of events when I was a newbie:

1. I create a PC and join a clan.  The very experienced leader of said clan does something really stupid (charging a group of six gith, if I recall correctly) and gets myself and a couple of other newbies killed, and very nearly gets everyone in the group killed.

2. He contacted me OOCly and apologized, and offered to let me play as his VNPC brother, who he had been planning on bringing in as a PC, anyway.  Things went well for awhile, then on the way to Tuluk from Allanak, we got ambushed by the -same- group of gith.  This time, I manage to run -screaming- from the melee and make my way back to the city.  Running out of stamina, I found shelter in an old abandoned fort...

...only to be randomly PK'ed as I rested by a dwarf raider.   I hadn't really gotten into either of my characters, but I felt pretty bad for that leader PC...getting a bunch of newbies and his own brother killed, heh.

Hrrrmmm....worst death...
Well, it actually wasn't my pc but my pc at the time helped kill them. It was a bad one for me because I OOCly liked the pc that we killed alot and had alot of fun roleplaying with them.

As far as how we all played it out I think we did a good job all around with those involved.

It sucked because I felt so bad OOC about it and for the player behind that character.

*sigh* I still miss that fucking bastard of a piece of shit.

I've had some shitty deaths of some of my own characters for really shitty reasons, but such is life. There's always some fuckwad more interested in killing your pc for OOC reasons.
This particular death sucked because it was hard for me, I had to go along with it IC, but OOC.....ahhh shit....

Heh, sorry.. that might've been me.  Long time ago, so it should be safe to talk about now.  I can't remember which time it was, but once back when the gith wore their hoods up all the time I had a dwarf with a gith-cloak on and the hood up preying on travelers after the gith attacked them.  So it was probably obvious because of the size, but maybe threw the noobs off a bit.. and I think it might have been the same dwarf or another raider character I had that took one or two folks out resting in that abandoned camp.  Ahh.. good times.  Hey, it aint easy being a raider... I've had plenty of characters that also went way out of their way to help people out instead of attack them also.  Variety is good in Armageddon.

Yeah...haven't done deaths (this is my first PC) but somehow to me it seems the deaths of my PC's loved ones or friends affect me oocly the most.
