As a "tweak" to the way view and value skills work right now, would it be possible to include additional information, as to if the PC can wear/wield/carry the item in question, with their current encumbrance?

A) Items that don't show their weight information when you list them in a shop - should start showing the weight.
EX:
a desert-camouflaged tent would weigh 8 stones.

B) Items that are worn/wielded/held and show if you can absolutely wield/wear/hold them - should ALSO show if you can wield/wear/hold them with your current level of encumbrance up until your max encumbrance allows.

EX:
a desert-camouflaged tent would weigh 8 stones.
With your current load, you will be able to carry it, with ease.
or
With your current load, you will be able to carry it, with some difficulty.
or
With your current load, you will be able to carry it, with a lot of difficulty.
or
With your current load, you will be unable to carry it.

EX:
You assess a fanged baobab spear...
...it is primarily made of wood.
...can be hooked onto a belt.
...testing its weight you decide that you could use it.
...testing its weight, you will have (no problem) using it, at your current load level.
or
...testing its weight, you will have (a problem) using it, at your current load level.
or
...testing its weight, you will have (trouble) using it, at your current load level.
or
...testing its weight, you will have be unable to use it, at your current load level.

C) Items that are completely out of your carrying range, even if you were naked (and unspelled/un-spiced) - should indicate so.

EX:
a skull-carved wooden chest would weight 18 stones.
You will be unable to carry this item on your own.

D) The Stat command to show approximately how much you're carrying and how much more you can.

EX:
stat
Your encumbrance is manageable.
You could carry approximately 8 more stones.

There's times when you buy something and you find that it's too heavy with your current gear/encumbrance - or even puts you at the higher end of your encumbrance spectrum - and realistically speaking, anyone would go to a shop and pick something up, probably even try it on, and test it's weight, before buying it - and know/assess where they'd be placed at, as far as their own encumbrance goes, if they did have to carry that item.
