MUD clients across phone, tablet, and pcs
« on: November 29, 2019, 07:23:51 PM »
Hey all.

I've been thinking of writing a help guide for players who are brand new to MUDs, and may be playing the game on the latest technology.   Some of these players don't even have a laptop or a desktop.

I was hoping that people could recommend me two things:
a) mud clients
b) devices that people play on.

Once I get a list of devices, I'll try and put a nice page together about how to install a mud client on your ipad, kindle, and how to connect to ArmageddonMUD.

PLEASE HELP ME WITH INFO THANKS.

If they have a 'droid they can put Wine 3.0 on their device and use Mushclient. I haven't done that but if I didn't have a laptop I would definitely put that on my 10" tablet. I use it with a bluetooth keyboard and mouse so it performs like a mini-laptop.

I use DuckClient when I playing on my Chromebook.
And then I sat there going "really? that was it? that's so stupid."

I still think the best closure you get in Armageddon is just moving on to the next character.

I play with the no-install version of mushclient, you can pick it up from here, it'll be one that ends in .zip instead of .exe: http://www.gammon.com.au/files/mushclient/

Copy the file onto a flash-drive and I can play with my client on any of my school or work PCs.

Any of the Samsung s-series after s6 is far more than enough to run blowtorch without crashes.

I personally have used them since the s6 and am currently on the s10 and Blowtorch.

When I have to log in through mobile, I use Blowtorch. Its stable enough, but might require some setup and tinkering to feel more optimal.

I also use Blowtorch, but mostly only when my internet or power has gone out and I need to log out of the game. It's extremely difficult for me to keep up on a phone screen and keyboard.
