Open Special Role Call

CALLING -ALL- PLAYERS:

An opportunity is arriving - something unprecedented and possibly never-done-before* - and there is possible that -you- might be able to be a part of it. We need volunteers to be the victims in something that will be occurring in-character - something that will potentially reach every part of the Known, across otherwise rigid class boundaries.

What is it? Unfortunately we're going to have to be vague about it - indeed if the above sounded needlessly vague then it's just going to get worse from here - so, if you're not interested in offering your entertainment up to staff machinations - flee now! Still with me? Alright - here's the deal.

We are canvassing for players to put their PCs forward so that something can potentially happen to them. We can't tell you what it is - but it is likely to be considered bad - character ruining indeed - if it doesn't kill them before their lives have a chance to be ruined. Let me reiterate that if you put in for this you're going to have a bad time. But there's potential - potential for experiences that otherwise would never be possible to play through - potential too for those around your character - as this happening will hopefully be fertile ground for you to drive forward an exciting narrative.

This opportunity is for existing characters of any vintage - or new characters, in a pinch - but the offering for new characters is simply for you to make a character and get in-game. We aren't providing any background or information to our applicants - we just want to be able to support people who are currently between characters!

You will not be informed if your application is successful - you are going to be going into this blind and everyone will receive the same message upon receipt of their application. You will have to play to find out.

This application is NOT restricted by karma - but your account history will be taken into account when we assess your compatibility for what is going to happen. Karma, as an indicator of this sort of thing will thus be taken into account - but it isn't a restriction.

The immediate application window is ONE WEEK (ending midnight server time on Aug 27th) - applications after this period will be considered, but those received within the week will be given priority. We will announce when we no longer wish to receive applications

If you wish to withdraw your application you must do so within the initial application window or within TWO DAYS of applying. The nature of the 'happening' means that we can't really deal with people playing take-backsies - but we can offer a grace period.

HOW TO APPLY:
OK - so you're fine with your character potentially dying/being ruined as a result of your application and you don't mind that you will receive no indication of a successful application and you understand that you must withdraw applications within the first application window or within two days if applying afterwards. So how do you get in on this?

You need to submit a role application to Unclanned and in it you need to state the name and sdesc of the character you're putting forward (to avoid confusion if the PC dies!). We will wait two days before resolving the request. Once this is done you can assume your character is on the list - after that it's just a matter of waiting and seeing.

If this doesn't seem like your cup of tea - that's fine - hopefully this will be something that many players in many situations will be able to interact with in some way or another. We are just looking for victims who are interested in going a little further.

Initial Application Window Closes at midnight sever time on Aug 27th.

Replies have been sent to all current applicants. If you have submitted an application before this post and haven't received a reply - please get in touch as your application might have slipped through the cracks.

The initial application window closes at midnight sever time on Aug 27th.

The initial application window is now over. Applications received after this point will still be considered, but after the initial batch of applicants have been processed.

All applicants still have 2 days in which to withdraw their applications.

If you have submitted an application before this point and have NOT received a response, please contact staff.

The response to this call has been overwhelming and has far exceeded expectations. While this has prompted staff-side discussions on how we can expand the opportunities this 'consent' gives access to, the roles that initially prompted the call remain unchanged - and, comparatively few in number.

We've received, at time of writing, 46 applications - of which, 45 survived the initial application period (woo!). Now begins the process of choosing from this pool of applicants and putting everything into motion. As mentioned in the original post - there will be no explicit confirmation of selection - whatever happens, happens.

Good luck and thanks for your interest.
