Question about moving from room to room
« on: December 12, 2017, 05:25:33 PM »
I'm still not clear on this. Let's say I type this:

>north (moving swiftly)

Do people in the room being left see:

<x> leaves north, moving swiftly.

Or do people in the room being entered see:

<x> has arrived from the south, moving swiftly.

Or do both?

Both.

People in the room you are exiting will see your movement speed as well, i.e.

X walks north, moving swiftly.
Will they tell your story in the end?
Who lives, who dies, who tells your story?

As Delirium said, they see both (and the command emote you included).

However, there is a bit of a funny thing with the arrival message: it won't indicate the speed at which they arrived.  The departing echo does, but not the arriving echo.

So, if you have 'walk' set it looks like this:
<x> moves north, moving swiftly.
<x> has arrived from the south, moving swiftly.

If you have 'run' set it looks like this:
<x> runs north, moving swifty.
<x> has arrived from the south, moving swiftly.  (<--- notice it doesn't say: runs in from the south, but 'has arrived from the south'.)

If you have 'sneak' set it will look like this (if you are detected):
<x> stealthily moves norths, moving swiftly.
<x> has arrived from the south, moving swiftly. (<--- notice it doesn't say: sneaks in from the south, but 'has arrived from the south'.)

And just as a 'did you know' you can add command emotes to your flee:
Code: [Select]
> flee s (scampering away)
This will render like 'run' does.
as IF you didn't just have them unconscious, naked, and helpless in the street 4 minutes ago

Maybe I am just dense or maybe no one uses it but I never noticed that you could tack an emote onto flee.

Awesome.
