Nothing in the help file indicates one way or another, so you'd likely have to ask staff on that.  I'd like to think they would break hide, since threatening someone is not something you could do while hidden!  The same would be true, arguably, with >chase, although here my reasoning would be: we have >shadow which is a stealthy way to follow someone.
