Wasteland/Desert Armor and Weapons
« on: November 10, 2015, 07:18:48 PM »
Hi friends!

I'm looking to accept submissions for some new items. Here's what I need:

Desert/wasteland gear! This stuff should be old, or patchwork stuff. Crappy, salvaged gear with stains and holes and tattered edges.

Materials and construction may vary (old tribal gear, stuff that survives the impact of a Bynner going off the Shield Wall, you name it) but let's try to avoid intricate designs.

I'm looking for primarily weapons and armor, but some clothes/accessories would be neat too!

Crafting recipes are not necessary since this stuff should be very thoroughly used and worn, rather than fresh off the assembly line. As with any building for the game, please review our building philosophy here!

I'm looking to handle this with a quick turn-around so I'm going to set the deadline ten days from now, on Friday, November 20th.

Please submit these as an UNCLANNED Character Report and put "ATTN MORDIGGIAN - DESERT GEAR PROJECT" as the title. Submitting multiple objects in one request is fine too.

The title says "armor/weapons" but your post says "gear". Do you want things like cloaks? What about flasks or other travel-type items? (Bearing in mind the crappy, salvaged nature, of course)

Edit: You answered that. Fail for reading comprehension.

As far as this project goes, cloaks/abas etc are what we presently have the most of.

Definitely looking for weapons and armor primarily, but I won't say no to other clothes/trinkets/accessories.

I feel like fallout 4 is going to really help me come up with good ideas for salvaged gear.

Just remember there's no metal in Zalanthas.

Did you know that there's no low-cost hooded brown cloak I can get in Allanak or the naki starter shops which does not drag the ground/is meant for city use?

I am excited for these cloaks now.

Don't worry, Diggity. I'll get you some. You just have to wait until this weekend. Then, let the fun begin.

I wrote two items!  Not gonna lie, Fallout was some inspiring.

I also looked at some Dark Sun material and realized we literally don't have the right weapon categories to represent a lot of the whacky tools of war those guys use.  :(

Do you need possible materials or just the design?

Sdesc and Mdesc are the most helpful. Submit more! We've gotten a couple at this point, but I want to be overwhelmed.

Research into bronze age and medieval weapons is probably a good idea before submitting an item, right? Make sure we have realistic handles and all that.

Do you need possible materials or just the design?

They said the items are well-used instead of freshly made so no recipes would be needed.

I submitted nine. I'm actually only really hopeful about the axe and club, since we need more of those.

I have been staring at a single sdesc that I don't even like. Good job everyone else!

Any particular areas that are still needing love, Mordiggian?

We've got a ton of armor and only a handful of weapons so far.

I could use more weapons!
