[edit: when I first posted this I described clicking on the voting links on the GDB -- that won't work, you have to type in the voting URLs manually instead
also the last two screenshots are inaccurate, but show you where to click at least]
How to vote like a pro [Firefox edition -- the plugin I describe below is available for Chrome, but I haven't tested it out yet. I bet the steps are similar... maybe someone can let us know?]
You might have voting down to an art (open new tab here, open new tab there, confirm vote here, confirm vote there, close tab, close tab) but RSI is a MUDder's worst enemy.
So let's make this way easier.
First, go get the iMacros extension for FireFox:https://addons.mozilla.org/en-us/firefox/addon/imacros-for-firefox/
Click "Add to Firefox", restart the browser.
Now go to the main GDB page by typing in the address directly into your address bar (gdb.armageddon.org). This step is important -- this is your starting point.
Next, pop open the iMacros pane by clicking this button in the top-right of your browser:
Go to the Record tab:
Click the record button, and then click "No" when the dialog asks you if you want to close the tabs.
Go to the address bar and type http://www.topmudsites.com/cgi-bin/topmuds/rankem.cgi?id=sanvean
[enter] (don't use the link on the gdb) and click through to vote Arm.
I believe you'll want a wait of a couple seconds here ([edit: viewing the top-20 list at topmudsites]), so click the wait button and specify 2 seconds in the popup.
(ignore the line that says TAB T2)
Next, go to the address bar and type http://www.mudconnect.com/cgi-bin/vote_rank.cgi?mud=Armageddon
link, and click through to vote Arm.
Go to the address bar and go back to gdb.armageddon.org.
Click 'stop'. You're all done recording.
(ignore the lines that say TAB T2 and TAB T3)Double-check that you have it all right
: right-click the macro and click "edit macro" and you should have something like this (otherwise, fix it):
VERSION BUILD=8940826 RECORDER=FX
TAG POS=1 TYPE=IMG ATTR=SRC:http://www.topmudsites.com/images/enter_yes.gif
TAG POS=1 TYPE=INPUT:SUBMIT FORM=ACTION:/cgi-bin/vote_rank.cgi ATTR=*
Right click on the macro (#Current.iim) and rename it to something like VoteArm. Right click the macro again and click "Add to bookmark". Specify a "local" type of bookmark, then move the resulting bookmarklet wherever you feel most comfortable clicking it (mine is in my bookmark's toolbar).
And you're off to the races.
