Current List Going:
Myself
Delirium
manonfire
ShaLeah (planning)
tortall
Brytta Léofa (if not out of town, meetup)
Belraina
Barzalene (maybe)

I will be there of course as always. Not getting a hotel this year as all the hotels with 5 miles of the con jacked their prices up to $250+ a night. Not paying that shit.

Also, since I don't play anymore I forget to check in here. :-D

There's a chance we'll be out of town that weekend, but if we're not I'd definitely do a supper and beers meetup.

You can do Dragon Con pretty cheap if you go in with friends. I normally spend about 500$ while I'm there. There are some cool places to eat in walking distance that are pretty cheap too. With four people in the same room your basically paying for a night each..which isn't that bad really..I sadly won't be making one for a while. Buying a House this year and working on a baby.  >:(

I just looked at the price. I see a decent price on a flight with hotel, though it's not downtown. Some travel will be involved. downtown.

I've never been able to pull the trigger on one of these because I am what I like to call a borderline dork.

I went to an anime convention and couldn't take all the people getting so excited over a cartoon, it literally irritated me to where I left because j thought I was gonna pass out from pure dork overload.

But dragoncon has always interested me.

Me too! Or, well, in a city within 30 minutes of Atlanta. Anyone got firm plans for meeting up? I don't have a hotel room this year since all the non-host hotels near the con got wise and started charging $300+ a night. Really not worth it.

I'd honestly suggest some place like a park, or maybe a bar out to the North. The key would be finding a sheltered place in case it rains, and being able to have a beer or four, as well as a subdued atmosphere. Because yeh, Joystick was Hella loud.

There is always Battle & Brew and their AMAZING new location... though it is a bit far from downtown.

If people are okay with that I'd definitely recommend it.   http://www.battleandbrew.com/

Looks fun.  Alternative, if we needed to be more in the middle of things: Marlay House. But that's more a Sitting Quietly in the Corner With Your Board Game and Glaring at the Young People while Feeling Irrationally Irish place.

What day are y'all thinking of? I'll certainly be there if it's Friday the 4th; we're heading out of town Saturday.

It -sounded- fun!  I mean, old school arcade bar, sign me up. Anyway, B&B is a fantastic place but a trek out toward Sandy Springs, so I'm open to Marlay House unless anyone has objections. Should we bring some board/card games or do they have that sort of stuff there? Will we have room to set up?

They don't have games, but there are some good group-sized tables/booths. I think we've fit 10+ at a table before...which sounds like about as many as we might be altogether.

Friday? Marlay House? 7 PM? I don't know what the Con schedule is...

I have games I can bring, but nothing halfway RPG-y: Dominion, Puerto Rico, LOTR Risk.

King of Tokyo is awesome and I love it. It can be nice and short too, not one of those games that takes like 3 hours to play. I like those. But I also really like Ticket to Ride, which I own and my husband and step-child refuse to play.

Pretty much any evening works for me so long as there's not a panel I'm going to. I take it no one has a hotel room this year? I'd personally much prefer to hang out away from a bar or the like. If everyone would prefer that I'll be there though.

On the other hand, I can bring Dominion: Seaside.

I dunno if I can do 7PM on Friday, especially out there. It's a 17 minute drive from the Con.

Is no one staying at a hotel close to the con that we can hang out at?

I might could swing Saturday or Sunday after 8PM, maybe.

EDIT:
And if anyone wants to try and just hang out at another time, PM me for my cell. If you still have it from prior years it hasn't changed, but I've likely lost yours, lol.

I also don't play, so don't try and rearrange anything around my preferences. ;-)

EDIT AGAIN:
Ok, apparently there are 2 Spring Sts in Atlanta, and it took me to the wrong starting point. Actually 17 min from the Con, so not as bad. Got panels and stuff I want to do on Friday still though.

Don't forget that Atlanta has Uber and Lyft, everyone, if you need to get around.  Both are pretty cheap.

I'm sure some of the others can tell you I'm a pain in the ass to plan things with, but I'd be happy to try and do things now and again.

I'm thinking I can make it Friday, if only for an hour or so.

Should be there about the same - I'll hit you up on Facebook if there is ENORMOUS SCHEDULE AND CONFUSION.

I'd like to credit some sound advice from my tactician.

I made up for it by kicking Ender's butt in Dominion: Intrigue over the weekend.

I'm in Atlanta, not that I'm exactly the socially acceptable type.

Socially acceptable?  What does that mean?  In my head it's anywhere between slightly socially awkward and actually Hitler.  I assume you're not actually Hitler.
