Vegas Feb 26-March 2
« on: November 16, 2014, 07:27:04 PM »
I was planning to go with my friends to Vegas. They however switched things up on me. They now want to go to New Orleans in April. I still really want to go to Vegas. I also really feel like I'll need to escape winter by March. I'm looking at March 2 - 6. I may go. I may end up going alone! Yikes.
Anyone from Vegas want to get together or anyone wanting to go and make it an APM destination?
(I could do late Feb too.)

I'll be up in Nevada at Red Rock for a rock climbing event sometime in march. Last time me and my friend managed a day trip or two into vegas. Let me find out the dates.

Here are my plans as they stand
Sunday Grand Canyon (Groupon brings it down to 99 without meals or 114 with meals. Vegas Deals code GIFT20 takes another 20% off that)
Friday, I hope to be hanging with Molton Heart!
Anyone else around? I know that at least two other players/explayers live in the area.
Anyone thinking of making a trip out, I found that bookit had the best packages and if you're using frequent flyer miles priceline had some of the best deals on just hotels.
Got groupon for CSI experience.
Other things I want to do include a cirque show, shark reef, roller coaster at NY NY, First Friday, Mob Museum. Back and forth on the fine art gallery at Bellagio. Any one know if coming from NY where we have a lot fo museums if it's worth it?
Arrive around 10 pm Thurs. Leave Monday. Will head to airport about 7:30 or 8ish.

According to their website, the exhibit for that time will be the Faberge display. It's $17 admission. So you'll need to decide for yourself whether or not you'd pay $17 to see a Faberge exhibit.

I'd definitely love to see the collection, but I wouldn't pay $17 to see it in Vegas. Consider that visiting only 2 or possibly three feature casino/resorts on the Strip can take a single day, you're probably better off spending your time seeing "Vegas-Specific" stuff. You will want to watch the fountains outside the Bellagio for awhile. Personally my favorite hotel was the Venetian. Most of these larger ones are more than just a casino/event theatre and hotel - they're enormous shopping malls with high-end shops in them. If you've ever done the Riverwalk in San Antonio, it's kind of like that. Not just shops for the sake of buying, but shops for the sake of experiencing the whole over-the-top thing. The only thing I bought at any of them was a pair of Swarovski earrings (I think I got that at New York New York), and a tee-shirt from a downtown gift shop.

Oh and you need to check the Downtown Experience too. That's something you'd do at night.

Get yourself a bus pass, you can get them I think good for 7 days. That way you don't have to pay for taxis. Walking really isn't much fun in Vegas unless you're going only from one hotel to the very next-door one, and nowhere else that day. These "blocks" aren't New York city blocks.  One Vegas block on the strip is probably equal to around 5 New York blocks.

The Bellagio also has their choreographed water fountain show, their Consevatory and Botonical gardens, and the world's largest chocolate fountain!

Fremont Street is something you'll want to 'experince' ;-) Save some money for the zip line ($20/40).

Get the bus pass.  Walking the Strip loses its charm sooner than one might think.

Bus pass. Check.
Yeah, I think if I'm going to see art, I'd rather pay to support an museum than a hotel. I'll do my art in NY.
I'm so excited!!!!

I would however go out of my way for a chocolate fountain.

Gonna be in Vegas for around a week starting on February 4th.
All the world will be your enemy. When they catch you, they will kill you. But first they must catch you; digger, listener, runner, Prince with the swift warning. Be cunning, and full of tricks, and your people will never be destroyed.

Amending my previous Vegas dates to Friday the 6th (february) until Monday the 9th.

Get the privilege of staying in a super neat mcmansion courtesy of my ladyfriend's relatives and probably going to be wrapped up in birthday celebrations for most of the weekend but I think I've got half a day on my own while they all go see Thunder Down Under.

62 days till Vegas!
There's a lot of hawaiian food in Vegas. That's something I think I want to check out.
