Moved some posts to Random Armageddon Thoughts.  Let's try to keep this thread about building projects (rooms, items, etc), not code projects or documentation writing.

Fire pistons!

...since, you know, flint strike kits don't actually work without iron (or at least an iron-rich mineral).

That is pretty darn cool, Moe.

On a related note, do we have blowguns yet?

There once was a race who made rather notorious use of blowguns. I'd assume we still have them.

Blowguns are pretty low tech, too.  I think as long as people have been farting, they've known that gas expels rather quickly at times, and compressing it into a narrow exit hole could be great for propulsion.

Farts.  There I said it.  We need more NPC's farting in game.  Why does nobody ever fart?

Also, with how little people bathe, why don't we see more people scratching their junk? Do yeast infections not exist in this game? Yeast exists, because ale.  Therefore, yeast infections.

Fetishes.  Why isn't there a sex shop somewhere in game for all the mudsexxers? Can we please get a shop that has bondage equipment such as silk restraints or maybe a ball gag? Maybe even a glass dildo?

Brothels.  Where are all the brothels in game? This isn't a one sided place here, there could be men and women for your nasty needs.

Be careful what you wish for...He might just come back to code it.

Find out IC on this.

They're called apartment buildings.

Orin's House of Hot Sexxx
This stall is really small, and has shelves lining the walls.  On the shelves
there are dozens of small sex toys, with some even dangling from the ceiling.
Several wooden dildos hang near the entrance and clack together from time
to time, kind of like a windchime.  A counter with engravings of dwarves,
elves, and half-giants having a large orgy takes up the end of the stall.

Sex shops don't exist, but certain houses might sell certain items you might find useful.

Brothels do exist - Look no further than Luir's.

Any possible way to color room descriptions and items separately? Just to make it easier on the eyes.

Color is in the coders hands, sorry :)

As an aside I'm bumping this thread. If you have more ideas for BUILDABLE items such as NPCs, Rooms (within reason), Items etc please put them here.

As noted before I'm using this list to inform a master project list.  You may have seen some of the things that were mentioned have already been implemented or are on the way:  stables in Nak, road changes in Nak, Tattoo proposals.  We're currently figuring out how to tackle the Allanak rooftop project and we have a couple more interesting projects about to start, where you might see more calls for submissions soon. So, ideas please. We may not do them all, but it is all very helpful.

I IDEA'd this before, but I thought I'd share:

It'd be neat to have "roaming" hide spots (rooms without a direction announcing their presence[1]) in Nak and the Rinth (at least, probably elsewhere).  I noticed that in the last flurry of changes some of the hovels in Nak got switched around a couple months ago, which was super neat: sneaky types can then scout out new hide spots, so the ones that are out to find them can't just use OOC knowledge to come find them in the well-known (OOCly) spots and gank them.  (And vice versa, the vigilant pitches can scout out the hide spots beforehand too.)

In general, this would make cat and mouse stuff a lot more fun and give people something to do during their offpeak offhours (pitches can patrol and rats can prowl).

Making them save/quit is totally optional.

Codewise, who knows, but implementationwise, I could see it fun for them to last only as long as a crash/reboot, or have them endure for an entire IG year, before switching up.  The same code might be used to mixup the watercaves out in the desert and whatnot.  You could use the same room mdesc or whatever, just have it link to a more random spot at a random time unlink and link to some other random spot.  I could imagine there being like just a handful of these rooms (simple hovels or cubbyholes or rooftops or whatever) in, say, the Rinth or Nak.

Anyway, probably not quite what Adhira was asking for.  Absent "roaming" hide spots, my suggestion is: MORE HIDE SPOTS IN THE RINTH AND NAK!

[1] A hide spot is a room that doesn't show up on the directions [NEWSUD], but will show up if you look in that direction.  I'm not thinking about things that require the SEARCH command, since to date I've never had a PC that had that skill, which is weird, since all my PCs guilds (at least in my mind) could have benefited from it.  In fact, I have no idea what guild/subguild gives that skill.

I think there's actually quite a few of those in the 'Rinth, now.

Perhaps a phrase like "they have learned to find paths that aren't apparent to the casual
observer," when found in the helpfile of a certain subguild, might indicate the "search" skill.

I think there's actually quite a few of those in the 'Rinth, now.

I know, they are super awesome.  The problem is that everyone eventually figures them out since they are static [and not roaming as my suggestion has it], and hence they are no longer really useful for cat and mouse stuff.   It really only took me a few RL days to find them all (although I'll admit to being a bit of an explorer, and when you play offpeak it's something to do).

I know, you could like pretend you don't know them, even though OOCly you do know them, but just like with the waterspots in the desert, it's SUPER hard to just suspend that sort of belief.  In any case, it only takes a few RL days to "rediscover" them... hence, make 'em roamin'.

I'd also love to see some of them southside (maybe they are, I remember one a while back).

Or whatever.

Considering Luirs is the hub of trade in the Middle of the known, I'd like to see someone that sells feathers there. It's so annoying having to go north and south to get them. There is a vendor selling birds already, just add a bundle of feathers there too.

More "Raiding" NPC/PC's" making the Byn and Fists viable again for escorts. (Even from the north road side too)

More creatures or animals in the desert areas, I think the northlands/Mantis Valley are fine for the most part.

More -reasons- for conflict between the north and south. Another deposit of metal, discovery/excavation of Steinal, ect..

Opening a potental "Raiding" Race/clan I.E. Let a few players play giths or open a Delf Clan that can actively raid PC's and NPC's.

Lastly, have the super huge mobiles (Larger than Inix and up) give out more materials to work with. Three or four shells, an egg and couple slabs of meat you can eat in a couple bites doesn't seem to on par. If someone kills one of these beasts, they should be PWNd by how much they have to carry in my opinion. Since some exceed the size of most homes in the world.
Two dwarves get into a small fist-fray over who owns a pile of dung at the roadside.

More types of furniture. I like to pimp my crib, that way thieves feel more welcomed prior to cleaning it out.

Never played a merchant so I don't know if there is a craft furniture skill or something like it already. If not, maybe a carpenter crafting skill - or a better name for a furniture maker?

Can use bone, wood, stone, hide, cloth. to make various items below:

All of these things could be made with different sdesc's than what is already available from the npc shops, giving more variety.

- Beds, cots, sleeping mats.
- Chairs, stools, benches
- shelves big and small
- chests (I think this may already be coded in ??), storage containers, lockboxes with keys?
- rugs, mats, animal trophy heads, animal pelt carpets - Like that tembo you killed, have it made into a life-like floor mat with open maw, or mount it on your wall.
- containers for water/food of different varieties. Although clay making may already have these - I have no idea.
- Various trinkets to place around the room - room dividers, sculptures from stone/wood/bone, armor/weapon racks, clothes closets..etc
- Anything else I'm not able to think of at this time to liven up rooms.

Of course, you have lower end gear for the poor folk, then be able to make stuff that would satisfy nobles and more privileged customers at the master level. Maybe gem-inlaid beds, chairs, etc.

Skill Wood Working                                                    (Skill)

This is the art of turning pieces of wood into finished items.

Syntax:
craft (item1) (item2) into (desired result)

Example:
   > craft block into simple wooden cup

> craft branch into wooden spoon

> craft plank into mekillot-carved wooden panel

> craft plank panel into bahamet-carved wooden chest

> craft plank 2.plank 3.plank into wooden cask

> craft plank branch 2.branch into simple agafari chair

Delay:

Something like that, only more all-encompassing of furniture in general?

There's a pretty wide variety of furniture items that can be made with woodworking already.  Off the top of my head, tables, chairs, benches, shelves, chests, boxes, trunks -- I think even a bed or two!

I think the amount of people who want furniture and the amount of people who can really purchase and be choosy about furniture are different

Furniture trophies--- rugs, mounted heads, mounted skins made of dead animals--- I wish there was enough in game to make a room feel like a true hunter's den, that'd be so cool. Well-made and shit for a backing alike, so that Amos the hunter has a skin at his apartment mostly because he can't sell the darned thing.

Can't you do a lot of that with severed heads and hides and skins using the arrange command in your apartment?
