I wish they would do Dragon's Dogma except I can play with my friends. Letting me have real people to throw at gryphons or into the ocean would turn a great game into a fantastic game.

That would be like Demon Souls/Dark Souls having a difficulty mode you can set. What you're thinking of is a fantasy hack'n'slash version of Borderlands.

Dragon's Dogma is a mini single player MMO with AI to fill in where players would. I'm happy they stuck to that vision. What I became unhappy about is horrible game balance in NG+ and the "raid" endgame that was a ridiculous when the one boss you fought kept flying away and coming back with more wounds from "other" players.
And there was some dwarf smoking spice, and I thought that was so scandalous because I'd only been playing in 'nak.

I'm pretty sure it would be the same game except pawns would be intelligent people and not completely retarded. ;)

I'm thinking of firing up Dragon Age: Origins again then I realized how depressed I became the last time I finished it. After I'm done with the Witch Hunt DLC I'll just realize I played the last piece of content from Bioware that I will ever care about.

I'd take that with a grain of salt, considering Microsoft's biggest console market is North America, where the network infrastructure sucks butts.

That did occur to me.  It wouldn't exactly be the first time MS have done something incredibly stupid in recent years.

According to the article these are the specs:

"AMD eight-core x64 1.6GHz CPU, a D3D11.x 800MHz graphics solution and 8GB of DDR3 RAM"

Looks odd. So eight cores clocked at a speed lower than what new PCs are shipping at? Seems a bit daft. With the PS3 everyone complained of how they had to program across multiple threads to split the processing across the individual SPEs.

Like this Valve interview:

The PS3 has higher clock speeds:

"The PS3 uses the Cell microprocessor, which is made up of one 3.2 GHz PowerPC-based "Power Processing Element" (PPE) and six accessible Synergistic Processing Elements (SPEs)."

I'm not going to assume anything about the new consoles until there's actual press releases from the actual companies making them.  I don't think there's anything definitive out there yet though.

This ships to backers from KS in March, and to stores in June:

I'm actually buying a new TV next month just for my new Ouya.

The Ouya may end up redefining consoles completely if enough people believe in it, or it may end up becoming a novelty with ports from Android mobile games showing up as an afterthought. In either case it's a cheap media box.

I can't see it becoming a hit.  IIRC the specs aren't even par with current gen consoles.

If there's anything that'll really shake up the console market, my money is on whatever Valve eventually come out with.

Semi-related: I showed a mate of mine that he could play games at higher resolutions, frame rates and graphical settings on a PC than his PS3, while still using the controller he's accustomed to as well as his TV.  Apparently "It's just not the same".

Making used games non-playable would be the absolute last dumbass thing I'd tolerate from Microsoft before I quit their shit entirely.

What was the last game you enjoyed that had high system requirements?

I'm sure there are some but I doubt the special lighting effects, or extremely detailed shadows made the game more fun :)

I know this is a minority opinion, but I hated Dragon Age Origins. It felt like there were different  teams designing your party and the world which later just slapped everything together with some changed dialogue. Your party just gets a pass, no matter how odd it is that you are a rogue mage, just because ....Grey Warden?

I don't know why but I felt like the great world they designed was extremely cheapened by the fact that the party itself flaunted all the social norms of the world with no more consequence than a different line of dialogue. In fact, I felt it ridiculous that Templars weren't trying to do something more than make snarky comments about my character the mage or Morrigan.  ???

I struggled to finish the game because all of my friends raved about how good it was, but I never felt the magic.

Maybe I was a bit harsh on it, but I really couldn't get past it for some reason. Otherwise it wasn't so bad, I suppose.

Are you thinking of DA2? Yeah that was handled very badly in that game.

In DA:O you didn't get a free pass.

"Note: If Morrigan is in the party, she will join in the conversation. If Wynne discovers she is an Apostate and sees you siding with her, she will attack you. If you decide to help Wynne, Morrigan will disapprove unless you have high coercion skill..."

And yes, being a Grey Warden during a blight makes you untouchable to the Templars.

I'm talking about Origin. I didn't bother with DA2. Also, yeah, the Grey Warden immunity thing just felt tacked on. One encounter with Wynne still doesn't make me feel like the world and party really jived. It felt disjointed and then patched together with the Grey Warden catch-all. What you just mentioned is exactly what bothered me. Sorry I didn't like your favorite game ???

You've got eighty or so hours of awesome until you get there.

I share your sadness. Dragon Age 2 pales in comparison to Origins. I'm actually playing through DA2 for a second time at the moment. It's enjoyable enough, but it doesn't bode well for DA3.

Morrigan can disapprove as mush as she likes, DA: Oriings is unbelievably shitty game. Except for the dwarven prologue stories, those were actually pretty good, I can't understand why.

Since were all tossing out our arbitrary opinions as fact, I shall proclaim everyone who did not like DA:O as of inferior sensibilities a.d taste where it comes to games; not on par with elitist taste!
