Play as a Pagan chieftain and ravage your weak neighbors. If you remain at peace for too long, your people will grow restless...
New special start date in 867 AD: The Viking Rurik has founded the kingdom of Rus and the Great Heathen Army under the sons of Ragnar Lodbrok rampages through England.
Play as a Zoroastrian lord and restore your ancient religion to prominence.
Adventurers: Landless characters can gather armies and go off to carve out new realms on their own.
Prepared Invasions: Declare your intention to invade and watch your armies grow with adventurers and restless warriors, but don't wait too long to start your war or it might all fall apart...
Rebels with a Cause: Rebels are no longer a faceless menace they are now led by characters with agendas.
Loot and pillage provinces. Burn down their cities and take their gold!
Sacrifice to Odin at the great Blot!
Christians and Muslims can dispatch missions to convert the depraved heathens.
New beautiful Pagan interface skin.
New events and decisions: berserkers, sejdr, curses, omens, divinations, runestones and much more.

Hel yes, this is what I've been waiting for.

Oh HELL YES.

EDIT: And an interesting date. Muslims started their expansion about a hundred years before 867. I suspect there will be a lot of pagan lords littering the east.

I skipped the Republic DLC because it didn't seem all that interesting, nor does it seem to have been received well in general.

This one, however, looks AWESOME.  I can't wait.

You don't need the Republic DLC unless you want to play a Republic.

I think the Sword of Islam is the same. It just unlocks Muslim play. I always wondered what would happen if you converted to Islam but didn't have the Sword of Islam DLC. I figure the game just ends.

862 is also before the HRE...

That settles it. I, as an adventurer with an army of berserkers, will found the Empire of Odin which will rule for a thousand years.

The Republic DLC is fairly interesting to me, but I can't quite figure out embargo wars. It certainly seems that allies and the HRE in particular are more than willing to start them against me, though.

My Manfredo the Great managed to control the Most Serene Republic of Genoa through rebellions minor disagreements for almost 50 years before being horribly destroyed by one such embargo war.

It's very pretty, but I do have to wonder how they got their hands on hair gel.

Path of Exile... is a very enjoyable game for free.  I recommend checking it out.

It really is.  Hopefully they can manage to turn a profit while keeping all the micro transactions cosmetic.

CK1, CK2 and (I think) all the DLC are currently available for $9.99 (the price of the latest DLC on it's own) and can apparently be redeemed on Steam..  If you don't own the game, now's probably the time to grab it.  Also the URL appeals to my inner seven year old.

Those are skills, lc.

Knowing the correct order to build things in, or ideal troop composition isn't really a skill, although I did phrase my last post poorly.

Nice deal! Just hooked it, and waiting for the downloads..

Anyone who accepted a heresy as a christian ruler have any feedback on what happens? My empire is huge and I am tired of having to find CBs in order to expand. If I can go holy war on everyone I could conquer everyone.

Well theoretically England (historically) accepted a heresy, in that King Henry Jim formed his own sect of Christianity. Wouldn't that be the same thing?

Declared allegiance to King Renly and led a siege against Duskendale to capture it from the Lannisters. There was only one way onto the city walls so we lost a good hundred men or so in the siege, only to have the Lannisters immediately march on the city for a counter-siege. Can you guess how long we held out outnumbered this badly?

Edit: Got fed up with all the Lannister bullshit and purchased a bunch of Unsullied to lead my army. They're slaughtering everything.

Some of the 2013 game premiere's look incredible. Most games will be out for the 360, which rocks, but one of the games that I want most of all (The Last of Us) is a PS3 exclusive, which blows hard. Definitely has me contemplating purchasing a PS3.

Announced
Feb. 5th - Dead Space 3 (PS3 / XBOX360)
Feb. 12th - Aliens: Colonial Marines (PS3 / XBOX360)
Mar. 5th - Tomb Raider (PS3 / XBOX360) *
Mar. 26th - BioShock Infinite (PS3 / XBOX360)
Apr. 23rd - Dead Island: Riptide (PS3 / XBOX360)
Apr. 23rd - Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen (PS3 / XBOX360) *
May 7th - The Last of Us (PS3) *

Unannounced
Dark Souls II (PS3 / XBOX360) *
The Phantom Pain (PS3 / XBOX360)

* = signifies games of higher priority

Anyone played games by Illwinter? This one is supposed to be strategy rogue-like.

Hilarious article on the Necromancer class:

Roguelike: it's a way for developers not to balance a game and just leave it up to chance ;)

I can heartily recommend Dominions 3 as an incredibly deep 4x/strategy game with the kind of brilliant balancing that makes all players agree that some factions are ridiculously OP (while disagreeing over precisely which factions these are), but I've never tried any of their other games.  Let me know whether it's any good or not if you do grab it.

Supposedly just additional content, and a hardmode.

Yeah, but the characters you can pick from intrigued me enough that I'm trying it out.

EDIT: I can't really recommend Conquest of Elysium 3 but for $10 its a time waster.

Honestly, more of the same is enough for me in this case.

I'm considering trying to play it through without pawns.  Could make things a lot more challenging and focused.

I decided to pre-order the Digital Collector tier from Wasteland 2 through paypal just because Brian Fargo made me LOL with a comment in this video:

Right at the 2:15 mark where he talks about character creation: "We don't know if you're creating a group of Russian Women or what?"

"We even let you choose the pack of cigarettes you like to smoke."

Damn you Mechwarrior Online - Finish patching.

I just had a 5 Kill, 700 damage match in my speedster Yen Lo Wang.

The other team loaded up on SRM-Boat slow Stalkers.

Playing without pawns is hardmode.

When I summon a pawn and they disappoint me, I generally pick them up and throw them into the ocean as punishment for their failures.

I'm currently on my 2nd playthrough on NG+, and after I found out augments stack - my Assassin is a pretty nasty customer. Maxed out vocations for Strider, Fighter, Warrior, Ranger and Assassin. Ranger wasn't entirely necessary, but I did like a few augments that they get.

But, basically, the strength Augments from Warrior + Fighter, coupled with the extra weight capacity (Fighter) + lower weight class (Strider), and the Assassin's +70% increase to strength at night makes me pretty beast. Level 93, at the moment. Assassin stat growth gives you the most strength per level from level 10 and onward. I'm considering doing a 3rd play through and having the Autonomy augment (+70% strength when alone) and doing a solo run.

But, yeah. Arisen characters have the potential to be pretty OP'd if you stack your Augments correctly.
