I'm trying to find a decent FTP game. Everquest is a no go on my PC for some reason. I'll let ya guys know.

I haven't tried it but I hear Star Trek Online is f2p done right.

EDIT: Chivalry Medieival Warfare is still at $12 on Steam. Having a real hard time putting it down :)
And there was some dwarf smoking spice, and I thought that was so scandalous because I'd only been playing in 'nak.

Thinking about starting up on Everquest again. I started playing that shortly after getting into Ultima Online, it was the first MMORPG that really got its hooks into me.

Everquest with all its expansions was mutated and warped beyond recognition. They even allowed healer bot NPCs at some point. There is however a free oldschool EQ server named project 1999? I think.

I've got two DOTA2 invites left.  Who wants them? PM me your steam id or email.

Ho ho ho, happy festivus.

Every time I finally unite Ireland into a Kingdom, my shithead son inherits it and some heirless bitch-cow queen forms a faction to seize the nation. And succeeds. And then I lose. EVERY TIME.

I never found  Ireland so bad.

Did you use your spymaster to discourage the queen from joining a faction? You set the spymaster to "scheme" wherever the person resides and eventually they either come up with legalese or blackmail to encourage the person to leave the faction.

In my last game I invaded France from the Empire of Hispania. Now I have the lovely task of not only putting down a local independence faction, but also dealing with new nobles I was unable to seize the holdings off because I had to call my invasion early and sue to keep them.

My days work:

And the level of bullshit I have to deal with by taking France is incredible.

D&D: Online was pretty addictive for me, for awhile. Mixture of free to play and pay to play content, but you're also able to earn (albeit with mind-numbing grinding and quest re-running on harder difficulties) or unlock pay to play content.

I have a shitty computer.
And then I sat there going "really? that was it? that's so stupid."

I still think the best closure you get in Armageddon is just moving on to the next character.

Witcher 2 was awesome, however it suffered from the lack of a neutral path (which existed in the first game). I couldn't decide which side to join and quit in frustration.

It seems the world has ended on Steam. About 90% of my owned games have disappered from my library, though they still count as owned (tested this by trying to buy Skyrim again, gave me the message that I already own it).

Support server seems to be down, as well.

Is anyone else having issues?

I'm not, but others are.  Some of their servers are probably just overloaded with the Christmas traffic.

And that causes the library to not show 90% of games? Odd.

It's a fun time sync. I'm going to start in on it for like a month and see what's up. Could be fun.

By the way... for all those of you annoyed by the unrealistic, simplistic and not very challenging scaling system in Skyrim:

I just found a very neat mod named Requiem on Skyrim Nexus. Just like Oscuro's Oblivion Overhaul, it turns the whole world (NPCs and loot) static, with bosses and more difficult dungeons offering greater rewards (even for a low level character if you somehow manage to survive). No more bandits mass dropping ebon weapons nonsense. Perks, skills, items and magic were also overhauled. Surviving as a low level character will be more challenging and the whole gameplay should be more interesting. No more need to turn difficulty to 'expert' for a bit of lame, only number-based challenge. Can't wait to try it out.

Just got an iPad for Christmas so I can get my long distance arm on. What do you lovely folk use for iOS mudding?
All the world will be your enemy. When they catch you, they will kill you. But first they must catch you; digger, listener, runner, Prince with the swift warning. Be cunning, and full of tricks, and your people will never be destroyed.

The 10% probably have no DRM enabled.

In CK2, does anyone use their diplomat for things other than:

(1) Fabricate Claim.
(2) Parked in Rome chatting up the Pope for influence.

That's all I've been using so far.

BTW, if you have not bought Crusader Kings 2 you really need to. I just checked and I'm nearing 200 hours played according to Steam.

Nope. Chancellors are only good for that.

What I'd like to know is why anyone would aim to give their ruler anything but Grey Imminence. High diplomacy is just too good to pass up in my opinion.

I've got around 150 hours on it myself.

High martial is useful. I've beaten armies twice  the size of mine with my ruler as a general and two others. They've made it matter in the Legacy of Rome DLC.

I agree though, Grey Imminence is mostly what's sought after. I tend to use the new ambition system too to even out any low points up to 8.

I will get this DLC and try that out then. It was always just a number game before.

I use my chancellor to chat up vassals that hate me and improve their opinion of me. Does sending the chancellor to the pope actually work? I always send my bishop to the pope, rather than the chancellor, which works very well.
