I remember the old Battletech computer game based off the RPG, on the Commodore 64. I was too young to really appreciate it but I think that was the time I fell in love with roleplay games. It was soul-shatteringly poignant to my little mind. The story resonated with me on a pure level. I've never been able to re-capture that.

I am drooling over this so much.

I've spent some 600 hours on the X series package that was offered as a Steam sale awhile back. Hurrah to mind-boggling complexity.

No shit.  I still think fondly back to my massive complexes that made my video card scream for mercy.

Towns.

If you wanna dumb it down into layman's terms, it's a graphical Dwarf Fortress that isn't (quite) as complex.

It's a lot of fun, and cheap.

Recommended for those who like deep sandbox games like Terraria, Minecraft, Dwarf Fortress, etc.

The walking dead sounds like a nifty game, but I won't buy it before all episodes have been released at a considerate bundle price. Does anyone know the ETA on the last episode?

Today for pirates, tomorrow on the PS3, the day after for everything else.  You can buy the whole lot on Steam for 21 or 25.

Oh hey, SW:TOR went free to play a few days ago.

Maybe I'll go back and finish some of those class story arcs.  Honestly, the game is pretty good if you consider it as a bundle of 8 single-player RPG games.

I'm thinking about doing the same thing. Left a Knight and a Warrior in the lurch. Then again, this will take away from Arm time...

The personal story missions are good, but the generic filler quests that you are forced to do to level up between them are far, far worse quality than any halfway entertaining single player RPG content. At some point I was so sick of them that I just tried to run straight through generic uninspired instance #37, dodging generic uninspired aggro mobs left and right because I could not stand killing another 50 of them.

It went "free to play" in a very restricted sense. You can only have 2 character slots, can't equip certain rares unless you pay money for a permit, can't compete in a lot of the battleground stuff, I believe.

I stopped playing 3 months after release (lack of content) but I heard their f2p offering is pretty absurd. They monetized action bars -- we're talking UI elements. There was an article on Massively about this I believe.
And there was some dwarf smoking spice, and I thought that was so scandalous because I'd only been playing in 'nak.

They also charge around $4 USD to enable the "hide helmet" option or something.

How is the WoW xpac?

It's good. Lots and lots of content. The leveling was moderately quick, but not as fast as Cata. I took about a week to do it and thoroughly enjoyed the story.

After that you settle into a plethora of dallies. They are so many of them that you'll eventually pick 2-3 factions to work on every day, or most days. The quests change every day and send you to different places (usually). It's only necessary to get exalted with 2 factions, and revered with 3 to get to the core rewards (mostly valor gear and high ilvl quest rewards). You can attain gear at a slightly less ilvl by queueing for heroic dungeons which are a bit too lolwhat this time around (there's no CC and you just plough through most boss fights). There's also LFR which is a joke at the first tier and gets a little too chaotic later.

I have a prot warrior as an MT for a raiding guild, and have almost perfect attendance. That's mainly what keeps me logging in.

If you enjoyed WoW previously for systems outside of raiding, there's a ton of content now for each of the various systems. Even fishing has its own faction with its own rewards. For the first time I'm actually enjoying fishing with guildies. I never thought I would :)

The Pandaran animations are amazing. I haven't rolled one yet but my alt is a mage with a minor glyph that lets me masquerade as any other friendly PC. For fun I'll masquerade as a panda and oogle at how detailed the animations are.

And there was some dwarf smoking spice, and I thought that was so scandalous because I'd only been playing in 'nak.

So many goddamn dailies. If you're going to do them ever though, now's the time to do them with Pilgrim's Bounty going on.

Planetside 2 Officially Launched today.  I am playing on the Connery server with New Conglomerate.  I am going to be playing with an outfit called the 666th Devil Dogs.  They are a very large Outfit that is very organized and I have had a TON of fun playing with them.  I will be Knoxx on that server, hit me up if you are interested in playing together.

Could be worse, could be the Enclave.

The Devil Dogs are pretty much the smurf version of the Enclave.

I just finished playing Walking Dead by Telltale games. The final episode was released on PSN today (tomorrow for the PC).

I've never been so fully invested emotionally in a game. Not even games Bioware used to make. Very well written.

Either my rig is finally starting to show its age or certain maps are just laggy when 100+ ppl try and take it.

The devs have taken stances anywhere from "4 year old machines should run it" to "you'll need a fairly powerful computer to run it well". The optimization is kind of all over the place.

I have a two year old machine with a few tweeks, I run the graphics on high settings across the board and I have seen very little lag to almost no lag.  If you see lag, I'd recommend lowering the settings a bit, disable shadows.

I'd like to play Planetside 2 but I'm not very good at FPS games.

I got into the beta but was too coward to go to the frontlines!  ;D

Well that's the thing, you can play this game and not even have to shoot at someone.  Want to be a medic and heal people and bring people around you back to life?  You can do it.  Drive a Trooper Transport called a Sunderer around where you can spec it out to allow it to be a mobile spawning point that people can refit at.  Every time someone spawns at the Sunderer you get XP.  Every time you heal someone or revive them, you get XP.  You don't have to shoot a single bullet in this game to do something.
Or you might get me.
