Game Discussion Thread
« on: April 01, 2012, 12:21:44 AM »
A thread for talking about, well, anything to do with games.

Didn't exactly know if I should make a new thread for it or not but anyone else heard about them releasing a console version for the Witcher 2: Assassin of Kings?

Having never played the Witcher, I wanted to see what the general feedback on that game was. From what I saw of trailers and stuff, when the PC version was being released, it looked pretty fucking fantastic.

The Witcher series is pretty ace, but my PC really struggles with them.  I'll be grabbing the console ports.

Would it kill me to skip the first game?

I've always been iffy about coming into a game, a series later.

It is definitely not necessary to have played the first game, although I'd recommend you do due to the awesomeness.  The plots aren't really entwined at all.

The Witcher 1 is awesome, the Witcher 2 is awesome +1.

Alright, I know I keep spamming these Kickstarter things here, but this one is seriously awesome and should definitely appeal to at least a few folks here.

This new short animation from the game company tells you exactly what happened in Witcher 1, and even if you know what happened, it'll make you want to play Witcher 2 again!

I really liked the first Witcher, the ridiculous amounts of player-gratifying softcore porn notwithstanding. It's really refreshing and Zalanthan to have "racism" and prejudice depicted in a pre-modern society. Something distinctly lacking from a lot of games.

When I finished Witcher 1 I wanted to jump straight back in to work the plot through again.  (And to play the antihero this time.) A game that really grabbed me from the start.  Funny funny random NPC chat.

Awesome new ol' school dungeon crawler that just came out today :)

Great graphics, about a billion puzzles to solve, fun & very addictive.

Just started playing that. They need to fix ranged rogues. Missile Weapon skill gives +dex but that stat is worthless for that type of build.

Otherwise it's fun :)
And there was some dwarf smoking spice, and I thought that was so scandalous because I'd only been playing in 'nak.

Bought Grimrock last night and was looking forward to trying it out today, but some magnificent bastard had to go and release Theme Hospital on gog.com.

There's another $5.99 gone. I'm going to be buying this too, and unless the resolution is so bad I can't stand it, probably play it all night as well.

The more I think about it; the Eldar in Dawn of War 2 must be Tuluki.
Now you're looking for the secret. But you won’t find it because of course, you're not really looking. You don't really want to work it out. You want to be fooled.

Oh yeah.

Both witcher games are pretty fantastic. Witcher 2 enhanced should be out soon too, making the game a bit more complete.

I finally tried out SCP Containment Breach.

I think I made it about 30 seconds before ALT-F4.
